Just a few random pics of the wife's 4R, neighbors, and my other ride busting out from our 40+" of snow and no plows for 6 days.....wish I had more pics of the 4Runner but camera was on the charger during most of its "action" time, lol...

Once the street was marginally passable I went back to driving my car (09 WRX on Wintersport M3s), but the 4Runner did decent - although the TC is way too sensitive and the stock A/Ts suck it big in the snow. WRX is just more fun to drive in the snow, as the VDC/TC can be disabled with the push of a button and it can be put sideways and recovered much easier - as long as it has less than about 18" of snow to get through. And this stuff was the wet/heavy stuff.

Exporer fail. She had previously told me all about how her Explorer had "more ground clearance" than my 4Runner, which had previously gone through a little ways down the road...

they finally came in with a big-ass frontloader and plowed our street this morning.

Yeah, they're alot of fun. Since they had been hit with a plow at somepoint, I really enjoyed running them in the WRX, which is smaller and more controllable in those tight roads with the snow tires on. Last year I made a few hundred bucks out there during a snow storm "rescuing" people....

Wife doesn't like me to play too hard in her T4R, lol....afraid I'll ding it up :whip2: So I have to play hard in my own car now that I sold my old lifted XJ...

With better tires (next year!) the T4R would have been more fun. The AT20s are pretty mediocre in the snow/ice, especially when stopping. I did see ALOT of 4Runners out there this week, especially in the middle of the worst snow when I was out and about....

2nd pic is an illusion....its actually only in about a foot of snow, but the big piled-up snowbank in front makes it look buried, lol....

In the 4th pic, the Durango was stuck. He pushed through that entire street of heavy, untouched snow and that's as far as he could go before he was totally high-centered and had too much snow pushed up in front. We managed to pull him back a bit and he got going and pushed through the rest of the way. Heavier truck + better tires + mroe ground clearance is why we made him go first instead of the 4Runner.

Irish44J: Where did you get your Thule Racks that attach to the Side Rails? I've been looking for some for my 06 Sport Edition and haven't been able to find them.

The railriders and crossbars are actually Yakima LowRider + 60" bars. The fairing and bike rails (currently not on) are Thule. I've worked about a decade at a ski shop so I have craploads of Thule/Yakima/Saris/Barrecrafters rack parts. So every time I get a new car I usually just piece a rack together with whatever random parts I have (even if the brands don't match)....

For the sportedition I think the Yakima RailGrab is the one that fits the bigger round bars. The LowRider just barely fits, but it locks on there good. Not sure if they still make it though.

I use the bars for my Yakima cargo box now and local bike moving. For trips I like a hitch-mount better since bikes on the roof on the highway kill mileage and make alot of noise..

I love your STI, tell me more about it. My wife has an Outback with the stock 2.5 engine. I can't wait for the warranty to expire because I have BIG plans for it. I keep telling my buddy that his GT500 is gonna get whipped by my wife's station wagon. BTW, I am pretty sure the Subi has more ground clearance that the Ford Exploder.
