Best to weld it back together. As the title says someone tried to steal my cat. Luckily I caught him as soon as he started. No so lucky, on the fact the he did cut about halfway through my muffler.
Wondering if JB weld would work?
Thoughts?

Be on the lookout. Your truck is on their radar now. They could come back for the cat again.
I hope you broke the thief's legs.
Yeah JB Weld has its place, and that’s not it. I’m sure a quick weld at an exhaust shop would be super cheap, and they might even sympathize with your situation and hook you up with a discounted price.
Thanks for the suggestion. Called a local shop and they offered to weld it back together for free if I buy a welded cat guard from them. I’m going to take them up on that offer tomorrow.
Please post a pic or 2 of the cat guard if you can. I'd like to see what the shop came up with.

Wish someone would steal mine, I'm debating whether or not to cut it out, we ain't got no smog testing in my county in Texas. The exhaust has that weird smell to it. I'm thinking it's about time.
I'm glad I live remote now for this exact reason. When I was living in downtown Tacoma I was close to snagging pallets from work and parking over-top of them to reduce the clearance, and the pallets would wedge between the wheels.
I think the cat thiefs in the Tacoma area are on alert though:
Man shoots catalytic converter thief near Tacoma and drags his body behind truck, police say
If you're serious, why let a thief have your money? Sell it yourself - it would be interesting to know what the going rate is at a (legit) recycler. Ours don't have near the amount of precious metals that a prius does, or so I heard.
You got lucky, I had mines cut clean off:gun5:, I installed a straight pipe where the section was cut off and then the original 23yr old muffler blew up about a month after with all the extra flow, changed it with a new walker and everything's ok for now.
One thing I did notice is that I can get tires ripping with ease now and noticed less down shifting when climbing hills. Still need to install the rear O2 sensor mod.
I also made a full 3/16" thick plate to cover the 4 cats on my 2021 4runner. not chancing another theft.
