I LOVE THIS THREAD LOL
I figured that I already have a 40 watt PA... why not a siren?
So I just went and ran a second cable to my PA speaker (it has 2 inputs) and ran it into the cab (hidden in eBrake boot in case)
iPhone app store --> OuttaMyWay V1.5 --> HOLY S**T THAT'S LOUD AS ALL HELL!

i guess if a train horn used responsibly, to each his own but if some dip**** blew one of those right next to me id be looking for a rock to bust out a window. then id be calling the man to file assault charges. seriously a horn that loud could cause permanent hearing damage, especially to a child that is not fully developed yet. anyone here thinks thats cool? pfff

For the record, I have air horns, not as loud as "train horns" but plenty loud, and yes, I have used them when someone runs a red light and almost hits me, but I have asked about 4 cops, one is a state trooper, all said my horns are fine, there would be no charges or Im not, violating any laws, infact one said that it is the law, to have horns on every vehicle, he said he didnt know of a law limiting the volume.
Oh, and a PA is usefull on the trail, many times I wished I had a PA

that horn specs out at 150 db+. a jet takeoff at 100m is 125db. pain threshold is 140db and permanent damage is well below that.

yup.
that said i have been known to do stupid stuff i regret later. not sayin its right or justified, just what i predict id probably do.
now that i think about it though, if i actually did get a window id probably pass on the cop part. good call 04rnr.
in all seriousness though we're not talkin about alerting red light runners or other safety related or responsible uses. im talkin about blowin air horns at crosswalks with babies in strollers n shiz. we've all seen the videos of people falling down, dogs freaking out and old people having heart attacks. when rc4r titled the thread to annoy pedestrians and scare the shiz out of people thats what came to mind.
all that said im convinced now that that prob wasnt rc4r's intention and i am at peace with him now, hopefully he forgives my drunken rant.
rc4r, some trucks do use train horns as well as less powerfull air horns. emergency vehicles use them too for clearing intersections and such. per my original post, used responsibly to each his own.

I think the overall point of this thread is to use the horns in a situation for safety and if used to play practical jokes or to annoy other drivers for no reason other than to annoy then you are an immature douchebag and deserve whatever they have coming.

a guy on ih8mud has an interesting horn setup, I lean more with nelson and wouldn't want it on my truck, but to each his own.

I hear ya, we ALL, have done stupid stuff that we regret later, myself included. Yes it would piss some people off, and I do agree, if the OP is doing just to piss people off, he IMHO better know how to fight, lol but for those careless drivers, no holds barred.

What's wrong with just holding your horn for a prolonged period of time? If I need to get my point across that's what I do. I have never been in a situation where I thought gee, I wish I could honk my horn now so they could hear it in the next county.
I prefer performance mods vs senseless ones. If your factory horn doesn't work and you need to fix it that's another thing.
Train horns on a car seem pretty back woods kiss my cousin kind of thing.

Cause I have every performance mod I can afford right now. And the stock horn sounds like my sister corolla

You dont have a snorkel. Use the money to buy a cheap CL welder and learn to weld so you can do future mods like skids, sliders, custom links, etc. That's what I'm doing.
Bottom line is it's not my $$$ or truck. Knock yourself out. I'm just giving my 2 cents.

I wanted to get a train horn but it would be wired separately. I'd still have the regular one attached to my steering wheel. The train horn would be attached to my alarm 
if that doesn't make some perp s**t his pants I don't know what will.

I have a cai so a snorkel would just look cool. Not do much. And I'm Trying to get into uti and I'm hoping they have a welding course I can take.
Man is love some needy lower links though.
And this was just a sorta future intreated type post I'm buying a warn 9.5 I next.
