If all you want is to get rid of the stock Road Runner Horn lol! You could probably go to a place like Harbour Freight or something and get a set of Freeway Blaster horns! I bought 2 high tone horns, but you could get a high and a low town and the truck would sound more like a Full size GM horn......

Anything special to hook them up, or are they just plug and play? My dad has a new Corolla and he likes the sound of my stock horn. Says it blasts better. I've never had troubles getting my point across and the most I resort to is just laying it on for a good five seconds, and then a combination of various blasts.
:banana: I'd feel like this guy if I got one of those train horns. A dancing boner.

I've got 4 80's GM/Caddy junkyard horns on the truck. Cheap. Bolted to the stock horn spots for 2 with only a little bracket modification and existing holes for the other two. Some wiring, a relay, it's all good. Very rarely use them, but it's good to have when they are needed.
I'm a cyclist too. Believe me, I get harried, things thrown at me, near hit (and twice hit- their faults), honked at enough without yet another person treating me like a faceless pile of crap.

Nope, just remove the old, and use the mounting hardware they give you. I even used my stock plugs......

Seriously? This must make you cool now. IMO...lame.
I just don't get the stupid train horn thing. I guess that's what it takes to make y'all feel cool, go for it. The only ones that run train horns around here are idiots in POS jacked up trucks. Just don't get it.

No offense, but as others have said, the train horn seems pretty childish. I was at a car show last summer and a guy with an F-150 kept hitting the train horn. After the first time people started saying 'why is he doing that? he's already shown he's an idiot.' One time he did it and a little girl was walking by with her mom and she started crying. Then people were really down on that guy. Surely there are better things to spend money on.

Cyclist's are the only reason I would put either of these on my rig. I find cyclist's to be the most annoying and arrogant people on the road. They refuse to move over to the other side of the line, even when there's plenty of room or even a whole "emergency lane". I assume that this is because they don't want to get into debris with the 1/2" of tire they're riding on.
This may not be you or the people you ride with but I've driven professionally for 25+ years and I truly consider most cyclist's with their "I've got a right to be here" attitude with zero respect for the cars lined up doing their best to get buy safely and the cyclist riding like a five year old a serious hazard.
Sorry man, but there's a definite reason that they honk at you guys.:snacker:

With your above statement you just showed the forum that you really...let me stop and just politely say...have no clue. I understand the actual rules of the road. I have read legislation and studied state statutes (CO included, as I train at altitude from time to time). I have talked with my legislators and am involved with the community and the process. You obviously have no clue with your statement and your sentiment towards other users that have every right to be on the road. There are lots of cyclists out there that have no clue and as a cyclist and a motorist, I too, at times, am frustrated by their actions. With that being said, and from other members have said, the train horns seems to help you guys cope with other inadequacies you must have in your life. I am sorry for your inadequacies and feel sorry for those that feel the need to compensate for their shortcomings in such a way. It really is pathetic. Before you rant, read what your state has published with your tax dollars (the same tax dollars that improve roads for those of us you consider a nuisance) and educate yourself. I would also invite you to go for a ride with me one day so you have an idea what it is like to be pushed into the gutter, have projectiles hurled at you (glass bottles, soda pop cans etc), be spat on and in general disrespected. All of this because I am on a fancy bike (worth more than my 2001 T4R Sport), dressed funny and am lean and fit? Come on Big John...don't hate! I am trying to keep your health care costs down by participating in a healthy hobby. :hatsoff:

There are plenty of arrogant cyclists in the world - just like there are plenty of arrogant motorists, but not all fit that mold. You don't honk at every car you see, do you?
You're exactly right on the debris thing. Getting stranded with a flat tire 50 miles into a century ride on the side of a busy highway is not fun or safe, and if your tire gets slashed on a piece of metal or glass, your spare tube or patch kit won't be enough to get you home.
And cyclists do have a right to be on the road. In most places, it's their only option unless there is a dedicated bike lane/path.
I can understand honking at a cyclist doing something stupid and/or dangerous, but if they are following the rules of the road, there's no reason to do so.
On topic, I think that louder horns, especially air horns, are stupid and hazardous, and getting one with even the slightest intention to use it for annoying pedestrians would be a serious mistake.

Road cycling is lame , I hate having to concentrate on some dude in spandex to keep from running him over, go ride some trails or start paying separate road taxes like we do for cars , require licensing and some sort of tax like we have for fuel bikes to create bike lanes , as far as I care to argue bikes have no right to the road , they were designed for cars , if not for cars we'd still be riding our bikes and pulling our wagons on dirt paths , why not startallowing joggers to run in the road if they follow the rules , at least keep it to roads where you can at least stay kind of close to the speed limit , nothings worse than coming around a corner and some guy is doing ten on his bike .... Forget that , get funding and create your own lanes , we have sidewalks to separate cars and people for a reason why should a bike be any different , I'm all for being green but it's not about that it's about farting around the country side being a road hazard for everyone trying to get home in the evening......whats wrong with riding your bike in the backcountry , why do these people have to feel so self entitled and make my life hell .......rant over ..... Said my piece right or wrong it's how I feel about cyclist in general from my experience, nothing personal...

Hell yeah- They should put a road use tax on the 1/2" tires. Make them pay $200 per tire. Then they could share the same roads we pay for.
Another thing that burns me are those guys who are burning used vegetable oil in their diesel cars or trucks. All they are doing is skirting the road tax. Using our roads, causing wear and tear, and bragging about all the money they are saving.

Ok, so what about the driver that has to cope with the vision of a separated helmet (with head) spewing blood crashing in to their windshield? Or the family that desperately swerved and hit a stationary car or solid object, and now there's a screaming six year old looking at a knee with no shin attached?
Every time you do something like that you are 1/100,000th guilty of causing this type of injury assuming that major accidents happen about once in every 100,000 incidents.
When you've seen a body lying in the road and you can't even tell if it was decapitated (even in an accident you didn't even witness, much less cause) your viewpoint will likely change.
