Son's new entertainment system

Well, we finally did it. Installed the Sony XVM-H65 monitor, and went with a Pyle PLDVD 120 dvd player.
We were looking more into the Sony MV-101 player, but were talked into the Pyle. And I wanted to install the monitor into the headrest itself, but the monitor was larger than the headrest. Thus an external mount. I am still looking for an option to install a different brand headrest, one that would be wide enough to take the Sony monitor.
Currently still waiting for the Sony MDR-IF140 wireless headphones to arrive, and the lighter kit. The lighter kit will allow me to run my radar detector, and also power an DC/AC inverter so we can plug in the PS2.
All in all, quite happy with the system.

Dave

another shot of the monitor

just wish the head rests were a little wider. The height is ok, but not enough meat on the sides to allow for the install of the flush bracket

Cool install  , Cool sticker

Did you handle the install yourself or have it done professionally? What was your total cost for the system?

TIA

Prices

The Sony monitor was purchased via ebay for about $250
the Pyle dvd, purchased at the installer's shop (should have done ebay on this one as well) was $240, and his labor charge was about $100

We are still looking into after market headrests, so we can fit the monitor inside of it, I will do that part of it myself.

The cool sticker, is actually a magnet I picked up on base at the Post Exchange, aka PX.

Hope to try the system out with a long drive to either Syracuse, or someplace in Canada during the upcoming holiday. :driving: :zoom: :rolling:

Scout,
Nice install job! I have an inexpensive Pyramid MV7SC 7" monitor along w/ a Pyle DVD/TV tuner -- couldn't justify higher cost of a good monitor for a 3yr old! I ended up mounting my dvd player under the passenger seat as it wouldn't fit in the glovebox. (it also has a built in tv tuner) Have the tv antenna mounted across the rear seat backs since I didn't want to mess w/ a windshield or headliner installation. Also, I got a 3 way 12v lighter adapter and tapped power off the REAR 12V socket, and ran the wiring under the rear cargo side trim, down behind the rear seat and under the door threshhold... its all completely hidden except for the plugs and a few wires wraped with wire loom. Since it's on an accessory outlet, it goes off w/ the ignition. I have a set of wired headphones along w/ an FM modulator that can be used w/ the factory wireless rear seat audio depending on if we want to listen to the radio or not.. if we're listening the radio, then the child uses the wired headphones...

equipment

Haro; roger that, but you gots the leather package. It's looks great, but I don't have leather. If you know of , or soon hear of an after market headrest that goes with my color interior, please let me know. Thanx brother.

Bryan; thanx for the info, I forget sometimes about the rear 12v plug in. this will allow me more flexibility. Run the AC/DC inverter for the PS2 off the back plug in, and run the radar detector, and the phone recharger on the front one.

:p

You can install an additional 12V outlet up front by purchasing the ashtray/lighter option... This will give you TWO 12V outlets instead of just one. brandsport.com, partznet, etc should have it... Also, check some of these writeups over at yotatech that folks have done for adding single/multiple 12V outlets that look stock: http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/techpage2.htm
