Sorry for the rant, but...

Yeah I know there are more. I did pester him, but he was very adamant about waiting till the next day. Didn't want to piss the guy off and seemed honest enough to wait. :bash: O well I will just have to wait a while. Thanks for the links guys, but I can't travel to get one. New baby at home and I don't have any free time for 4runner trips.

If you've ever tried selling a car privately, and had your time wasted repeatedly by flakey buyers who don't show up when they say they will without calling, or put in an offer on the car to never be heard from again, and generally waste your time, then you'd be able to see things from the other side as well. Selling a car is not a hobby, cash in hand is what you're looking for. It takes a lot of time to have a car clean inside and out and ready to show a prospective buyer, and people have no respect for your time.

It sucks that you had made arrangements to view it and it sold before you got over there, but unless you had a deposit on it, the car was still actively for sale. Lesson learned. Hope you find the one you're looking for.

Thats rough man!! However this guy speaks the truth, money talks, bullsh** walks, especially if you didnt have a deposit down

Wasnt meant to be, as others said something better will come along

I too have dealt with many craigslist flakes. Most recently I sold my front bumper and a guy texted me and made a low offer which I accepted and said he would call me at 7pm to pick it up. Never called or showed up.

Unless you have a deposit or I know you, I dont hold anything. Whoever has the cash in hand gets it.

Not to beat a dead horse but if you really wanted it you should have gone over that night.

However, I am one of those that feel things are meant to work out the way they are supposed to. You were never intended to get that 4runner so no worries.

The seach is one of the best parts of buying a new car. Keep lookin'

You will find a better deal.:ak472:

I agree with this.

I had been in contact with a guy about a '99 limited last weekend, I was the first person to contact him about it. I went to look at it on Saturday, and told him that I wanted to buy it. I tried calling him on Monday to setup a time to look at it, but he never got back to my message. I checked cragslist later that day and he had removed the listing.

Well fast forward to this weekend, and I ended up with an even nicer '97, in a better color (subjective), at the same price. I look at it as a blessing, as I am very happy with the one I found.
