The Beginning
After beginning the search for a Tacoma, I had no luck finding anything in my price range. While on craigslist one night I ran across a 2nd gen 4runner in a nearby city that suited my budget. I went the next day to see it, but wasn't very satisfied with the condition it was in or the transmission click it had. The same night after seeing the 2nd gen, I found a limited 3rd gen (possibly with an e-locker) in what seemed like immaculate condition with low miles. I contacted the owner and he made it seem like the truck was definitely worth the 400 mile trip to Houston, TX. So my Dad and I took off around 3 in the morning to meet the owner in Houston by 9 the next morning (yea, we're crazy like that :biggrin1
. So we made it on time, and met up with the owners "cousin". We got a very weird vibe when the mysterious man just let us take it on a test drive without asking for our name, and we got pissed off when the truck looked like crap compared to what we were promised. We said no thank you to the unnamed man and didn't look back. Just so the trip wouldn't be a complete waste, we began to look in the area for another. I began to call all the local dealerships to see if anyone could track another 3rd gen down. After about an hour of calling different places I was beginning to lose hope. Then the last dealership I called, Don McGill Toyota, I was surprised to find they had a 2002 4WD SR5 ! I rushed over and immediately spotted it on the lot. It really stood out from the rest of the newer vehicles. It was CLEAN (I can't stress this enough)! It was a beautiful bone stock 4wd SR5, I hadn't seen anything that could compare to this at all! So I pulled the trigger.
This was my first morning with the SoTexRnr !
