Not a problem. Glad to help. If the Accord is your DD then sound deadener would be great. It should make a huge difference in your ride quality. Good thread. Good inputs.
I wanted to do it to my Civic when I had it, but the extra weight would have been too much. Even an extra person noticeably decreased performance. I had a 2007 LX, 140 hp, and I live in Colorado so the altitude decreases power by a bit around town, and more in the mountains. I would often have two or three friends with me (the back seats seemed spacious enough, but I rarely sat there), and I would often be carrying 3 mountain bikes on the back. Sometimes I would use a roof box for extra space. The payload capacity was only about 850-1000lbs, and I'm sure I was close to that a lot of the time. Going up hill in the mountains it literally could not exceed 65mph because of gearing, and the gas pedal worked more like an on/off switch. One time I was driving up to Leadville with the gas "on" (full throttle) and it slowed down from 65 to 45 before the transmission decided to shift to second. It could go to second below 65, but it decided to hold 3rd for some reason, and I didn't manually shift it because I wanted to see what it would do.
I sold it and bought a 4runner, which is much better for my typical driving. I rarely drive to work, so I just need a vehicle for adventures on the weekends.
The 4runner doesn't seem that loud, but it could be quieter. Less noise should decrease fatigue on long drives. 124lbs by itself isn't that much, but if you do a lot of mods (armor, mostly) it starts to add up.

So true. That's what [MENTION=50507]CookieRoe[/MENTION] was saying about the added weight. There's a real noticeable difference in long drives with the deadener installed. It's very comfortable and my wife and I can actually have a quiet conversation, even with the radio on. BUT there's also a real noticeable difference in the reduction in my HP because of the added external parasitic drag, weight, and resistance with the 285's, the shrockworks bumper, sliders, and skids which of course affects my MPG above 70. I've seen my greatest gains in MPG between 60 and 65 and below 40. I need to re-gear pretty soon to increase my torque so I can get my HP back up where it needs to be. I get tired of de-selecting OD just to keep the higher gear ratio when needed up hills.

dont know why this didn't attach, but this is exactly what i'm trying to fix on the accord. i think you guys have more than covered me with all the options.

Yep, I have a 2007 EX sedan. The 1.8 is a great motor, but has no guts. When I have 3 adults (not including myself), the motor labors to get to speed. I got my Civic to cart me from home to work efficiently. I didn't want to get a Hybrid. Anyway. adding all the necessary hardware to quiet it will affect MPG and I don't want to do that. Besides, she has 190,000 miles on it, I don't think investing lots of money would be wise.

use dry ice and use all the safety precautions. it will come off in clean pieces like glass.

HELL NO. Adding a K&N will convert it to a hot intake and eventually kill any sensor (can't remember what's it called) by gumming it up with that confunded oil. Besides, it's a 1.8, short of forced induction, any mod will do JACK to the performance.
K&N intake: Been there, done that....... never again

i stopped after about half came up. screwdriver and just a tad of prying and yeah it cracks like ice and comes up. i was going to take more pics and finish it tonight but a downpour come outta nowhere. hopefully this doenst cut into my on-demand 12v mods for the 4runner this weekend. :crybaby:

You got rained on too? It freaking poured over here and I had to stop a project I had on my other car. Out of nowhere is right, we were only supposed to get light showers, not tornado warnings. Stay safe and dry! Cant wait to see some pics!

That is interesting..ran them for decades in everything from a Honda Accord to the V8 T4r...never had a single problem..maybe its my climate, maybe its my procedure.
Air is the source of all HP, and resistance is the devil, not sure where you would pull more heat..all of mine are isolated and if that is really a concern then do baby steps and just use the drop in re-usable filters that keep stock plumbing

everything you say is theoretically correct, but the gains in HP are minimal (not worth going through the hassle of installing the kit). All the kit does is make intake sound "throatier". As far as heat, the intake of those kits has them in the engine bay. I know they come with a "heat shield" but that does absolute jack to lessen the air temp. Anyway, this is where most of the heat is. A factory intake usually has the intake from the radiator or wheel well (cool air).
like I said, they are junk, but apparently that is my opinion.
