So here's the back story. Last month I sank my 4Runner in about 5 feet of thick mud. Mud came in and up to the bottom of the seats and sat for about an hour until I could get pulled out. Fast forward and everything is mechanically ok. I just had to pull the entire interior and pressure wash the carpet, seats, etc. Well since I had it out I thought I'd look into some cushioning and sound deadening. I looked around and found this stuff called "Shaw laminate floor underlayment" which is like a three in one underlayment. It has a sound transmission rating of 72db. It comes in 100ft rolls, just cut it to shape and tape it down. IMO it's better than anything else I've seen and its cheaper. I can barely even hear my starter anymore and the road noise is way down. It makes me really notice how loud my doors are haha that's next. Anyways this is a lot longer than it should have been, but it works.
