Spacer Lifts

With my 2003 SR5, I'm interested in a spacer lift, like a Cornfed 3"/2" leveling kit. It looks pretty simple from what I can tell, as far as components. Am I correct that other than the spacer components and hardware, everything else can remain as it is, e.g. shocks, springs, etc?

Also, how do spacer lifts affect towing ability and capacity?

spacer lifts are super simple to understand and install, counting in my head you need to remove a total of 6 bolts in the front and about 2 or 3 in the rear in order to install topout only spacer lifts. the cornfed 3/2 has a preload front, so strut disassembly is required, a little more involved. as far as towing and capacity, i havent ever heard of any negative affects to either from running a spacer lift, but others on the forum may know more on the subject than i.

Pretty easy install if you have the tools, as far as towing, all is the same. The feel is the same as you have the same spring as before as your used to, just need to change the lift/drop size of the hitch to level your trailer load.

The FAQ basically said that there's three types of spacer lifts. Which is the most durable and which is the easiest to install? Also, I'm replacing shocks and struts - would a lot of this disassembly needed for the spacer lift be underway with the shock/strut work? That way, I'd kill two birds with one stone.

The spacer lift comes with all you need, the front has a spacer with instructions and will work with your factory strut. The rear spacer rides over your coil and comes with a longer shock for the incress height.

So, all you should would be a new strut if you wish.

Tools, pickel fork, spring compresser, sockets, jacks and stands.

Since you stated you're replacing the shocks/springs why don't you just go with an OME shock/spring setup and skip the spacers all together. Have a better suspension, get your lift, and smile.

It would be a better option but I'm short on money. Unless there's an unknown option to me (I'm sure there is) that I should pursue. Any suggestions?

Check the classifieds. I see used quality suspension setups in there for cheap all the time. :thumb3:

So an OME setup is just new shocks struts and springs that lift the car? How much would one of those run me new? How about used?

I have been very happy with my Cornfed 3/2 lift. I hated the stock low sitting look and if you will be using your truck for primarily street driving then I think that this is the best way to go. Check out my garage for pics.
