Spare Tire Gone (Stolen?)

wow really.....

I have my spare with an unused tire on the roof held down with a ratchet strap. yours is factory and held on with a steel cable. Yours gets stolen. that makes sense... seems like they would be looking for someone that does something like I do.

I spend a lot of time in different areas of Chicago. I feel like it was targeted randomly one night parked along the street. Hate leaving the 4Runner out there like that. Back in the suburbs, this type of thing is rare.
 
Has anyone made a solution for "locking" the tire on the bottom? Maybe a piece of metal running across the bottom of it holding it on as well with a lock? Idk. Trying to think of something that would help deter this type of thing.

Rough area huh?

You could just run a kryptonite cable (6') around it and lock it to the hitch.

How about hide some razor blades so you can get the thief's DNA. Oh wait, this being Amurica they would probably sue you and win. :spy:
