How is everyone mounting their spare tire. Looking at doing it on a roof rack also doing the hitch mount. What’s everyone perfer. Thanks

To answer your question, I am running the CBI Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier Swing Out. But here's my two cents on the other options:
If you're not into serious wheeling, the stock location will fit tires up to 285's I believe. If you don't want to do that, an aftermarket rear bumper with tire carrier is a great option to get better departure angles and trail protection, but they are expensive and usually require cutting the stock bumper cover. I can't recommend putting the tire on the roof because of the effect it has on the truck's center of gravity. There are a number of hitch mounted tire carriers available that will get the tire out back fairly cheaply, and without modifying the vehicle, but they will further lessen your truck's departure angle.

I just ordered the Wilco Solo high clearance hitchgate. There may be some reduction in the departure angle, but minimal. The advantage of not having to lower a spare tire in the event of a flat far outweighs any small loss in departure angle - if you’ve ever had to get a spare out from under the truck when you’re sitting on an uneven rock rock road, then you’ll know what i mean.
And, given the fact that I’m running 33/12.50/18 tires, i can’t fit an identical spare underneath the truck so out back is the only other reasonable option. Aside from the center of gravity impact of putting the tire on top, i have no desire to lift a 70 pound wheel/tire combo up on the roof.

I hadn’t thought about the center of gravity good point there. I’m tall but not a big guy so lifting that 70lbs doesn’t sound appealing either lol
I’ve looked at the hitches and thought about it also. I don’t do a lot of wheeling and prolly won’t until I get another vehicle to drive besides my everyday driver which is my 4 runner.

I've got the Wilco and fairly happy with it. One thing I've noticed is that the factory receiver isn't deep enough to really get a good bite that the Wilco needs. As a result, it seems there is a slight sag in the carrier. Something I actually might take up with Wilco. Oh, also there is a high clearance version that I have which actually brings the carrier up approx 4" thus you're not sacrificing clearance.
