spark plug gap way off!?

just got some new spark plugs. Ordered them online from Toyota outlet, they are denso K16TR11 same ones recommended in the buyers guide.

I kept readying people saying "don't forget to check the gap". and that its should be .043.

Mine are all way off at about .028-.032

When I was at the autoparts store getting some stuff I mentioned it to him and showed him he said, "because they are dual ground they don't need to be gapped they are ready to install".

Is he right? I guess makes sense because they are all pretty close to each other but way off from .043.

And when I tried gapping one to .043 the plug moved a little bit after that I would really have to "force it" and it just didn't feel right.

Gap them too OEM spec no madder what they say. .028 is where high hp turbocharger and supercharger applications run. When I was running 36psi I had to run .022.

Do a search before you regap and install. I remember a thread from a while ago that explained how these plugs can be measured incorrectly very easily. The plugs you bought should already be good to go. If I happen to come across that thread I'll add it.

^ Great cuz I just gapped them all to what my tool says is .043

Wow wish I had seen/read that before hand. I guess I need to go buy 6 more plugs

Plugs are cheap. Better to find out now than after they're installed and you're misfiring all over the place. Good luck.
