so i was driving the other day, and i hear a loud pop, followed by violent shaking in my runner. long story short, a spark plug came loose, and the compression popped it out of the engine. lucky me, i was able to find that plug on the skid plate, and after inspection, put it back in. threads and porcelain all in good shape. but after further inspection i find this

and for reference, this is what they normally look like

now it seems that when the plug came out, it damaged the wire in some way shape or form, and that little thing sticking out is what i believe metal of some sort. since then its been about a week and i havent had any problems, but i just bought all new spark plugs from toyota, and im not sure if this needs to be replaced as a precaution. any suggestions?

I would replace at least that wire, but not sure if you have to buy the 3 pack. Either way, it would be worth it to me for peace of mind.

They're good, never had any problems. Get them or the Densos. It doesn't really matter except the NGKs are way less $.

ive had them ngk wires for like the last 50k miles no problem's

Are they blue in color as they appear in the product pics? It would be great if they were available in other colors, specifically red. They are $36.99 at Advance Auto, by the way.

SkidPalace,
Yes the NGK #TE66 wires are blue. That's the only color I have ever seen them come in, but red would look pretty cool.

BTO,
I would guess that the plugs loosened up to the point where the compression from the cylinder just spun it out. I've seen this happen to other vehicles, but not so much on 3.4s.

So since I have had my rig I haven't changed put the spark plugs, so whomever did them last didn't tighten them down all the way so yes they did loosen up and pop out. Threads were not stripped, and from talking to a few other Toyota buddies, apparently it's common in Toyota. Just make sure you tourque down your spark plugs enough ladies and gents
