Spark Plugs

I have a 2002 V6 with 120,000 miles. Any recommendations for source and brand/part number for replacement spark plugs?

That very well could be your issue. You should only use dual electrode plugs in the 3.4. NGK #TE66 or Denso #671-6182 ONLY. There's actually a sticker on the front of the engine that says so (if it's still there on yours). Duralast is junk too, you should only use NGK or Denso plugs and wires (and all electronics/sensors). Here's a pic of the sticker:

Toyotas DO NOT like Bosch parts. If you use only NGK and/or Denso parts, I guarantee your 4runner will run longer and healthier than if you don't. The proof is in the sheer amount of people who have problems with other brands. Check out sparkplugs.com for all that kind of stuff, they're way cheaper.
I really, really think it's those cheap Autolite plugs and Duracrap wires you got in there that are causing your miss. In this engine, the plugs fire on the comp and the exhaust stroke so single electrode plugs wear out twice as fast... and even the duals are supposed to be changed every 24K. Try that 1st.

I will never buy anything Bosch ever again in my Toyota. I cooked one of their plugs a few years ago after 1 year/12K: (yes it was a single electrode)

you can go to your auto parts store and they'll have it most likely. go with denso if possible and if not NGK will be the next in line. sucks for me because i didnt get twin electrode..o well i'll replace at another 20k

I think there must have been a typo here ...... Amazon list the Plugs wires as Denso #671-6182 and the plugs as Denso (3289) PK16TR11 Double Platinum Spark Plug

Something got lost in the translation of that qoute (I was originally responding to what wires someone should buy), so those part #s are for the wires. The OEM plugs are:
NGK: #BKR5EKB-11 or
Denso: #K16TR11

I wouldn't bother spending extra $$ on iriduim plugs and what not, these plugs above are what the motor left the factory with. They actually came originally with the Densos on one side and ther NGKs on the other, but it's fine to just use all 6 of one brand.

Tim, the NGK's and denso plugs came in the engine stock, but I think it is assumed that the NGK's are the better of the 2 plugs, I know when I pulled my plus the NGK's were in better shape than the Denso's were.

The plug wires (NGK for instance) only come with 3 wires... so one side goes on the coil pack and the other onto the plugs?

The plug wires (NGK for instance) only come with 3 wires... so one side goes on the coil pack and the other onto the plugs?

wires connect the plugs. 3 wires so each wire connects 2 plugs. be careful though dont pull all old wires out at once. if you remove one wire at a time you'll see they are connected to a plug at both ends...do one wire at a time removing only one wire at a time or else you'll get a misfire

I helped my roommate do the plugs on it 03 tacoma @160k miles. came out densos on one side and NGK's on the other. At that time,both plugs were beyond worn out however the NGK's did hold up visually better. That being said, when i did my plugs i put in denso's. it is time for me to do plugs again and im gonna order ngk plugs and wires off amazon in the next day or so.

Just changed mine yesterday, I've owned this for a year, glad I did it, the wires were in rough shape and it had single ground plugs in it when they should have been double ground. Maybe it'll run a little better now!
