Spc upper control arms

Hey guys, I'm about to dive into some mods and was looking for a little advice. Going with Bilstein 6112/5100 and SAW 1.5". Front may be set as high as 2.5. I plan on following the lift with some new shoes. Leaning towards something in the 255/80/17 range since i think that will better suit my driving (mostly city/highway, lite off-road/trail). My main questions are: Do you think I'll need to get UCAs for tire fitment of sizes in the 33" range? At what lift heights is a diff drop needed to protect CVs? Thanks in advance!

You may rub the stock UCA. You can shave them to avoid this. Run a wheel spacer or off set wheel. Or go with some aftermarket UCA's.

Diff drops have a huge debate. I run one and personally never seen a failure due to a diff drop. Most run them at 2.5"+. Most reputable lift shops include them in the lift kit and most would think they would not if they caused oiling issues at the diff.

https://wheelersoffroad.com/ has front bump stop kits. Sonoran Steel, Sonoran Steel Custom Metal Fabrication L.L.C. Custom Toyota Truck Parts makes rear bump stop kits and so does Toytec I believe.

Sway bar links check with [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION]. He makes a very good product but may be on a hiatus. Research 2nd gen sway bar links on the rear. I run them and they are about 1" longer. For the front I went with http://www.wabfab.org/ disconnects. They are a great product by wabfab has horrible shipping times and known bad customer service. Mine took a month to get to me but he gave me free over night shipping due to the time it took.

Spindle adaptors?

Hey all I'm new here, and sorry for posting in this old thread, but I recently recieved my spc LR Uca's from amazon up here in Canada, and I realized that they didn't include the spindle adaptors. Has anyone else had this? I just thought they were included and now of course I have the truck apart... I'm wondering if it's a packaging defect or if they simply are not included. Thanks

The insert that is installed in the top of the spindle and accepts the tapered ball joint end? Yeah that's supposed to be included. Did you get the right kit? Part number 25460

Thanks for the reply curtperry. Yea those are the inserts that I am referring to. That's the right part number I ordered as well and I've got everything in front of me and they look to be the right ones (except no inserts!). Interesting, I ordered them from amazon.ca and the picture only shows the arms, and nowhere in the description does it mention the inserts, but they are legit from SPC, not a knock off, only they are sold from amazon. So I was getting worried that maybe they weren't gonna include them (which would make no sense of course because they aren't usable without em.) Called amazon and they are shipping a new one out asap so hoping they will come with the inserts! ..thanks again

If you call Fat Bobs Garage, tell them you heard about them on the 4runner forum they will make you the best deal you can get anywhere on these.
I had a really good experience buying from them and they will beat the above quoted price. Their Diff drop was a pain in the butt to install as the included bolts were a little on the short side, I wish I had gone another route on the diff drop.

Maybe their policy has changed since I ordered from them but I saw in threads here on T4R that others had gotten a significant discount from them and recommended buying from them, I called and they were very friendly, here is what I paid ordering form them:

Thread from the dead, but I am trying to identify which generation of SPC arms I have,.the part number has not changed but the product has since I purchased them, apparently. Today, the same SPC 25460 I purchased 4+ years ago still fits a 3rd gen 4runner, it just looks different and costs two enas much.

I purchased the tubular arms in 2018, and sat on them for a considerable time - I didn't install them till 2022. At that point I had heard about "problems" so I called SPC, the asked me to describe my arms, bushings etc, and said they had already updated the bushings on my arms, so I was GTG.

I installed mine and have had no issues, however I have heard about ball joints failures occurring - not sure when those became an issued, if they always were, or if some folks just got unlucky. Now I'm genuinely curious...

Someone on FB posted this in a conversation, I don't know what here is fact or lore:

FB person had my failures right around the 10k mark. But the real issue is quality control. They've had three major revisions of the arms (three different bushing styles) and changes in the ball joints. The oldest versions had issues with bushings and cracking in the welds. The second revision seemed to be the best (the version I had), but still suffered from bushing issues. And the third revision (the forged models) have had issues with the x axis joints and several runs with bad ball joints.

I'm not worried about my SPC arms, built how can we identify what generation SPC and when the problems plagued each model/changes were made?

I purchased/installed mine in 2020 that have 2nd gen bushings 15k mi no complaints, I'm changing LCA bushings ATM thought I'd call to check out the 3rd gen Axis upgrade kit probably go with them since frontend apart, kit only $300.00.

I believe my arms came with the SpecRide bushings, they look identical. No problems so far...

May not swap them now prices only going up, yea press needed for install SPC shows using sawzall cutting out old bushing metal sleave.

These threads make me curious about the longevity of my SPC 25945 RLLs. But, since I bought mine from O'Reilly's, they come with a Lifetime warranty.
