Any 6.5" speaker will work. Any car with that size speaker should fit.

You may have to chop the wires to fit the adapter, but that's a 5 minute job.

I have all of my original speakers (somewhere), I can look around for them. They still sound alright and if I can find em, they're yours for cheap if you want em.

Best upgrade/bang for the buck speaker IMO: Type R 6.5" components. Punish mine each time I drive the truck, best sounding speaker for the money I've ever run, by far.

If you dont want to spend a lot get Pioneer 6 3/4's they will fit & they sound great. Otherwise get JL Audio.

Thanks for the replies. What are type R speakers?

They are made by Alpine. Shop around, if your going to replace them get something aftermarket IMO Like previously said JL are very nice type R's sound good and so do Polk audio IMO go to a car stereo shop and listen to each one, find your price point and the speaker you like then shop online for them. You'll find a better deal online once you figure out what you like.

Alpine Type R is just Alpines high level speakers.

I just got done with aftermarket install and a 5 channel pioneer amp. I am replacing my front speakers this evening with the Infinity Kappa 6.5 speakers. They are very good speakers. Can handle the 100w im sending their way, and since they have 2 ohm impedance I am able to get more from my amp.

The MAIN reason I went with Infinity is because they have a 2 ohm impedance whereas many of their competitors are 4 ohm.

i'm not an electrical person so the ohms things i don't understand. i am not going to buy an amp, so something big i don't need. the alpines are pricey. i don't need anything that fancy.

find them. thanks.

find them. thanks.

I found all 4 of them. Two 6.5s and two 4s. I replaced them with kickers. They sounded the best in the sound tests I did. But honestly, without a clean amp, they're barely better than stock.

I've had kenwoods and alpines in the past and have to agree with the guy who suggested the Type R. I just bought two type R 10 inch subs and the box at an auction for $12.50. They work fantastically.

Let me know if you want these factory speakers (or just one of em)

pioneer i don't like. JL maybe. i'll have to go to best buy and see what they have.

JL Audios will be higher than the Alpine Type R.

Any decent brand will sound slightly better than stock. You get the best sound by giving speakers power. Stock speakers can sound decent with an amp.
I'd suggest spending $50-100 on front speakers and maybe a cheap 4 channel amp. Kenwood has a tiny 4 channel amp for about $90. Under $200 and you can get pretty sound.

You can always spend more than that, but if you like listening to music you will appreciate the $200 in the long run.

JL Audio speakers do have some issues vs their amps. I prefer Infinity Kappas, they are the only speaker that can handle bass. I do have JL Slash Amps, they are the best. Alpine Type R speakers are good, but they are not built as well as the Kappas. I know, because I got some Type Rs and compared them to the Kappas. Ended up returning the Type Rs.

I run kappa perfect series in another car. I think they are very pitchy. The type r components are handling 125 rms and sound super full.

Kappa speakers are nice though. I paid $110 for my type r components. I trust my friend who works at cartoys but is very unbiased. He advised my entire system and for $700ish invested from head unit to sub it's the best balanced setup I've ever had.

If you aren't amplifying, practically anything suggested will sound the same at the 15 watts rms or whatever your deck puts out.

i have a scion pioneer model T1806, don't know wattage though. looked on line but found nothing. definitely will get something i can ad an amp to if i decide to. it's just a matter of what.

If you want something inexpensive and just enough to give you decent sound I can recommend this. I had this in my 97 and sold it with the vehicle. A big plus to this is that it is small enough to fit behind the dash under the radio.
Don't expect miracles, but it is something.

I got the Type R Alpines after blowing some Type S Alpines using an NVX Amplifier that is more powerful than it's stated ratings. These Type R speakers are AWESOME! I was so pleasantly surprised by the sound that I can't listen to anything at low volume anymore. Definitely lots of room for an amp later on down the road. They are a little pricey but when it comes to speakers, you get what you pay for. This is the best deal I found. The place is 15 minutes from me, but $110 for these speakers is a steal.

I threw in some pioneer component speakers up front. Huge difference. And they were only 80 for the pair and tweeters. Didn't want to go all out. Just wanted a decent set. I'm pleased!
