I’ve replaced the drivers side front speakers with a JL Audio C1-690 component set connected to stock head unit. I reused the stock connector which resulted in parallel wiring of the speaker set. There is a high pass filter on the dash tweeter (stock cap was removed).
By reusing the stock wiring, the 4 ohm speakers are now 2 ohms with respect to the head unit. I have no idea if the stock speaker setup is 2 or 4 ohms to the head unit.
The speaker recommendation was from Crutchfield. While the quality of sound is improved in regards to clarity, the bass output is minimal. I compared this to the stock passenger side which wasn’t upgraded yet. Btw, the stock bass is muddled but it’s there.
Anyone know if I wired these incorrectly? Is my only option to amp these up or add sub?
Thanks much.
