speakers 90 4runner

Hi, I just bought a 90 4runner and was wondering if 6x9 speakers will fit in the back panels where the factory speakers were if I cut the plastic panel. Can I put 6.75 inch speakers in the front door with cutting? Not looking for a big system but one that sounds good for a daily driver. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to buy the wrong speakers and have to worry about returning them.

The front speakers r in the lower dash and u really can't go bigger and the back u can put 6x9s but u fab it all up

I'd keep it stock and keep the boxes. It will sound better.

thanks. I was thinking about unhooking the dash speakers and just putting the 6.75 in the doors. I know there are no holes there but was wondering if they would fit in the lower door

They will rattle if you don't install them right.

I thought about the 6x9 boxes but did not want them in the cargo area cause of room and afraid someone would steal them but may go that way cause of sound guess I could put them on the sides somehow.

When I get a new vehicle I always check out Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LED LCD TV, Cameras They have a huge database of what the speaker and stereo din sizes are. They supposedly have really good customer service, installation instructions and support. Prices look pretty decent too! Good luck. I'm looking into a little something something too...

i'm looking into doing the same thing, and my plan was to take the factory speakers and get aftermarket speakers the same size to limit fabbing something up. you could do the same to limit costs as well as time fabbing up boxes and such. but if you're good at fabbing up things, the go for it. i just figured getting aftermarket speakers that are factory size will limit headaches, good luck!!!

I could fab it up and I looked at crutchfeild but did not like the factory front speakers size. Thinking about it I don't want to cut up my factory doors either :israel: I think I will put boxes in the back with 6x9s and just the stock size in the front. Thanks again!!! This is my first thread anywhere. I really like Toyotas and sold my Cherokee to get one and love it. The jeep :ybrick:

Put a sub box if you want it lounder, but for good sound, get rid of the factory head unit, and install a decent head unit with at least 50 watts per channel. My front speaker are a pair of Pioneer 4" two-way, and they sound pretty good with my Sony CDX-GT510, but I plan on upgrading the head unit to a CDX-GT710HD in the near future. My HD Beater, has Lightning Audio 4" two-way speakers, I got for $15 at Wal-Mart.

I'd rather buy from Sonic Electronics than Crutchfield. Free install kit and shipping with most head units.

All my stereo stuff is JL audio and kicker. It sounds good for having stock size speakers. Although I have some bass. :thumb3:

i bought the speakers

I already had a good head unit and a pioneer amp 100x4. I bought 6x9s for the back and 4" for the front. Both kickers. I think next week I will get the speaker boxes for the back and get around to putting it in at the end of the month. Thanks for all the info.
