Speakers not working on Driver’s side

I am stumped. I have an 07 4Runner Sport with the stock CD 6-CD Changer and stock speakers. A few months ago, the driver’s door speaker stopped working. I thought nothing further of it until the driver’s side rear door speaker stopped working as well.

My first troubleshooting step was to check to make sure that the balance and fade on the stereo hadn’t been bumped accidentally and isolated the sound to the Left, Right, Front, or Rear. This step also confirmed that there is no sound coming from the two speakers on the driver’s side.

My next step was to check all fuses in the engine compartment for the stereo. All look perfect.

I am being optimistic and hoping it is not a wiring issue, but it sure is looking like it might be. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should check next, or has had similar issues? I’m trying to avoid a costly trip to the dealer.

Are you saying you got replacement speaker/s or stereo?

This could be speakers or it could be the stereo, you need to try and hook up a another speaker to see if you're getting a signal thorugh the speaker wires, IMHO...., you could use some wire and connect it to the driver's side wires and run that to one of the speakers on the passenger's side or use another speaker if you have one laying around.

I just ordered one for $40 on eBay. Thanks for the tip... fingers crossed that this is the simple fix to the problem!

Are you saying you got replacement speaker/s or stereo?



This could be speakers or it could be the stereo, you need to try and hook up a another speaker to see if you're getting a signal thorugh the speaker wires, IMHO...., you could use some wire and connect it to the driver's side wires and run that to one of the speakers on the passenger's side or use another speaker if you have one laying around.

I have a 2017 4Runner Limited. Both of my front door speakers are very muffled. But if I take one of the back door speakers(which sound fine in the back doors)and hook it up to the front it sounds muffled too. And the front door speaker hooked up to the back door sounds fine. Could this be a problem with the amp? It’s both of the front door speakers. Not just one.

Could be connections. Could be the head unit.
Mine had aftermarket parts in it that were just twisted and taped and the speakers were barely tight, so they all worked loose. New connections and cheap, new speakers on the ones that were sliding around in the door worked for me.

I have the same problem: 2017, Limited with JBL. One front dash was blown. The door speaker are only emitting very low frequencies. The repair guy at Toyota told me this is normal. WHAT??

Do you guys have "normal" full frequencies comming out of the front doors? Back doors are fine.

That's not normal. You should have full sound coming from all speakers.
