Speed Sensor Gone Wild?

Recently my speedometer and mileage gauge stopped working- throwing a code for the speed sensor and causing my check engine light to stay on. The weird part is- if I'm driving along, shift it into Neutral, turn off vehicle while still driving, turn vehicle back on and then shift back into Drive, my speedometer and mileage gauge magically works again until the vehicle is turned off and back on again. Has anyone else ever have this happen? :vader:

Sorry, forgot to check this! I have not done any work to the front. And it's still an issue. I'm thinking of trying a new speed sensor. Otherwise, maybe it's a computer problem? Gah!
