Speedo cable replacement......

Could Toyota make the cable any more complicated? I'm going to tackle this in a couple weeks when I get back. The lower part of the dash needs to come out , along with disconnecting the e-brake(cable goes through speedo cable flange). Hopefully, I can reach up and disconnect the cable from the back of the cluster without pulling it.
It will be nice to have a speedometer that does not bounce or make noise in the winters anymore. ; )

I often ask myself self WTF was Toyota thinking... And hopefully you do not have to pull the cluster. I've got a problem with the low fuel light in my pickup and I've been putting it off to avoid the cluster.

Have you tested the sending unit in the tank? Might be the sender in the tank rather then the gauge. I hear you though.

I have not yet. Right now its really low on the list of priorities. I just carry a little gas tank in the tool box. I figured it was probably just the light since the gauge itself works fine.

Horrible design!
I threw a hissy fit and routed the new (pulled from a junk yard) speedo cable through the dash and under the carpet routed trough one of the rubber grommets in the floor board out to the transfer case... rather than deal with disconnecting the e brake cable and diking around with that little metal plate by the pedals.

NOT the proper way to do this...but it is hidden & has worked fine while saving me a lot of time. :cry2:
