I know there are a ton of write-ups about this but i can't seem to find them right now. I am changing from 265/65's to 285/70's and I am wondering if i should buy something to re-calibrate the speedometer such as the speedohealer . I know the website says its for motorcycles but I've heard of people using it for my kind of situation. Is it worth getting or is the difference not that big of a problem. I am also worried about my odometer putting on more miles than i am travelling, or will it be less??

Not meaning to bring a dead thread back, but, its the same deal I'm dealing with. I will be doing the same tire conversion as original poster. I'm still contemplating the speedohealer too. But my question is:
If I don't use the speedohealer resolution, will my truck gain more miles, or gain less miles then actual?
 
It would be less. I went from 265/60/18 to 265/65/18. The little difference in the height made mine lose a tenth of a mile for every mile. So if i drive 100 miles the odometer says 90. Not bad to keep the miles low. If you think about it, the bigger tire travels further for every rotation of the driveshaft.
 
In that case, to heck with the speedohealer. I can see why not a lot of people care to resolve it if it's less.

I believe this is incorrect… with this tire size change your speedometer is 3.444% slower… so if you went 100 miles your odometer will show 96.4 miles (3.444% less) not 90 miles

I just ordered one. I measured with GPS on my iPhone and showed about 65-66mph on the speedo with 70mph on the GPS.

I used to get 330-350 miles per tank (17-18mpg) and after my lift I'm getting about 300. I'm not sure if it's totally a drop in mpg or a reduction in miles measured, but that comes out to about 14mpg now without fixing the speedo.

If for no other reason, I'm fixing it so that my wife can't scream at me about wasting money when she see's the gas mileage on the dash!
 
It's showing I will have a reduction of 7%. I'm going from 265/65/17 to 285/70/17. Does that also equate to if I travel 100 miles, it only shows that I traveled 93 miles on the odometer?

I'm running the speedo healer and like it. Going with 285's the speedo was off by roughly 5mph. Plus the odometer and even trip computer/mpg/miles to empty reads correctly now.

Do you recall what percentage you had to program it with the 285's? Was is 7% even?
