Speedy

Going over 100 in any vehcile is considered wreckless driving and is endangering yourself and others especially in a 3rd gen which isn't very stable at those speeds.

It's dumb to do that in a sporty car on public roads but stupid to do it in a heavy, underbraked, tall SUV.

Hope nobody pays the price here.

True. I don't make it normal practice. My job depends on my driving record. If I was going that fast and got a wreckless driving charge I would lose my job.

I'm just arguing for the sake of discussion lol :biggrin2:

When I had a 03 Audi TT Coupe, kids in their Mustangs would try to race me all the time, but racing is stupid, unless you are going to do it on an off road course and with nobody around. When I was a Police Officer here in Missouri, I would catch people doing things like that and love it. Arrest the driver, take away the license, and tow the vehicle, makes for a great day. I totally agree with RonMAIDEN here.

geez

wow, ghost. ur the kind of jerk cop everyone hates.
goin 100 in a straight line is not a hard thing to control. the only time i drive fast is on a long straight thats wide open and you can see for miles. i can see if anything is gonna jump in front of me, if there's anything on the road, or if there's any b#$%$ cops like u who might wanna ruin my day.

Doing 20 over the speed limit is "careless and Imprudent driving" in Missouri, and I think most.
"goin 100 in a straight line is not a hard thing to control"
So what happens when you get a flat tire? Let me explain something to you...I have had to go to too many peoples parents or spouses and explain to them that their loved one was no longer with us because of speeding. Until YOU have to do something like that, I suggest you watch who you call a "jerk cop" or a "b#$%$ cops".

But you started this thread by RACING another vehicle that was in the other lane.

It's not the speeding part that is real bad but you were engaging another vehicle that also isn't stable at 100+mph and I doubt it was clear for miles plus if you were racing then your attention wasn't fully focused on the road in the distance.

Re: geez

OK, I'll jump in on this...

There is a difference between racing and speed. You save you were racing a Titan and now you're talking about speeding in the wide open. Which is it? Keep your racing for a track, this is the wrong vehicle for that.

This is directed at all those with a need for excess speed:
I hate tickets just like the next guy/gal but the cops aren't out to ruin your day. They are there to protect you, and the rest of us, from you.
Not wishing you any harm but hopefully you are alone on the road and in your vehicle when the unforeseen happens and you ruin your own day. Do you have any loved ones? Think of them before you mash the pedal.

omg...lol

another one of these threads...

I've gone over 100 in my runner and it feels stable as it gets, no vibration or anything, feels nice...

doesnt mean im gonna drive that fast though...unless im at the local speedway or on an offroad street, i dont drive that fast, its just not worth risking your body/life and that of those around you...

lets just stick to offroading! leave the street-racing for punk kids...

So only kids with Hondas street race?

I agree, lets not generalize.

I owned a Honda Civic that was modded and I never once street-raced. On that note, I didn't think the car was fast. I loved the way it drove and it handled like a dream. I drove it for 2.5 years and sold it for $700 less than what I bought it for about 30,000 miles earlier and got ~30MPG the whole time.

Sorry for the story but I get real tired of people (not necessarily the above poster) talking shit about people who drive civics and the likes. I live in a town that is home to one of the biggest tech schools in the country. I have seen punk kids driving absolutely anything you can think of, and driving it like an idiot.

I didnt mean that I have a problem with people in civics or hondas or acuras or anything, i like them...basically just meant leave it to punk kids...in whatever cars it may be...

I edited my post :D

LOL. I like the edit. Again, my post was not directed at you. It's just funny how I have been a part of the import scene and heard all of those guys make fun of offroading and lifted trucks, and now I'm into offroading and here alot of people make fun of "ricers". I get why people get annoyed with kids that have civics, cavaliers, integras... etc and put body kits and huge wings on them, with the loudest muffler they can find and then run around town all day long at 5,000 RPM's it just seems like some people lump everyone who drives an import into that category. Anyhow, thanks for fixing your post

Back on topic. I am in agreement with everyone who was mentioned the fact that going 100 mph or over (or even close) in a 5,000lb SUV that is rather ill-equipped to do so is not smart. I also contend that I don't care how open or straight the road is there are many unforseen events that can take place such as a blowout. I do not know the top speed of my 4Runner and don't even intend to find out.

well, all i have to say is any logic can be disproved with a hypothetical situation. my only beef is that ghost said

that just pisses me off. im sry, i know they're "protecting us and others from ourselves," but in my situation, if i get towed, license revoked, and arrested, its just for the money they'll get from the fines. im not endangering anyone but myself when i speed. is there not a difference in smart speeding and stupid speeding?
like i said, i dont do it when there are other cars around, (except in the case of this punk Titan who thought just cuz he had a V8 he could whoop me.) but we were the only ones on the road. no one else for miles on both sides.

Racing and speeding has two different meaning. You stated you were racing.

When a person race, they push their car/truck/suv to the limit to beat the other person. Which meaning no slowing down until the final straw. Anyone can say that they know their limits and they know when to back off. By that time, it'll be too late.

Speeding in the other had his just driving fast. You are not competing with another vehicle and you your blood is not boiling to win. If you have to, you will slow down because there is no competition.

(Neither one is safe)

BTW, you are hurting other people. Like your family, friends, co-workers, pets, who knows but the people that are close to you. Maybe not physically but mentally if anything would of happened to you.

So don't street race.

i did back off.
when a car came the other way, i braked immediately.
if there is anyone even close, i stop.
im as safe as can possibly be when it comes to goin fast.
we raced for about 1/2 to 3/4 mile til i saw the other car, then i backed down to 5 over.

I stand by my word 4Runner_mudder. It did give me satisfaction to give people like you tickets. IMO it is a lot better than getting satisfaction out of pulling ur dumb body out of your vehicle after an accident that could have been avoided. Now I do speed, oh yes it is true, but I speed over 5 the limit. Oh yes, I do know it is against the law, as a matter of fact if you want to get technical, 1 over is speeding. I find it funny that the majority of the people on this thread would possibly agree with me in this situation. If not, trust me I will not lose any sleep over this. As for you stating that we will get more money for the fines that we put on the tickets, I know some states do that, but Missouri does not. Now do us all a favor and send me a PM if you have a problem with what I just said, this is a thread that does not need to keep on going.

I agree. I still have an 88 CRX with a swap, turbo, nitrous, blah blah blah and I don't street race in it. My 73 Datsun 510 is too slow to race anything lol :biggrin2:
