I've been working on the Tundra brake upgrade. I know a lot of folks have done this with great threads of information out there. I did a quick video on how to rebuild some junk yard calipers for those that wanna save a few bucks as well as how to clean them up and paint them if desired. I'll update this thread with a "how to" video for installing them as well in the near future.

I had a lot of trouble finding those caliper decals so I made some in Photoshop and had them done by a local sign shop. I have extras if anyone needs them just shoot me a PM.

First off, I'd like to say that I'm glad to see you posting on this forum. Your Project SportRunner page represents a massive contribution to the knowledge base surrounding the TRD Supercharger and the details surrounding installation & tuning on a 5VZ. Excellent videos. I picked up my 231mm calipers and rotors at a junk yard for $140 at lunch and placed an order for the rebuild kit at my local Toyota dealership (part number is 04479-60081 as shown in Speedy's video). It was $13.77 if anyone is wondering. Ordered my decals from you. Thanks. For anyone doing this with junkyard rotors, the minimum thickness on these rotors is 26mm so take a micrometer with you to make sure the rotors are thick enough. I picked up a cheap digital micrometer at Harbor Freight for $15.

Good to go man. I went with some Power Slot rotors new "just because". I've barely spent a dime on this 4Runner in 6 or 7 years other than oil changes so I figured I'd spoil her a bit with some new higher performance parts. I'll have an install video later when everything shows up.

I stopped by the sign shop today and picked up more decals so I have more if folks need them. Just shoot me a PM. I'm glad I found someone who could make them for us.

Looks sweet! Can't wait for the video. As soon as I replace a stripped stud on the passenger front tire, I'm going to to do the tundra upgrade. There are some great write ups on here that I plan on using but if you upload a video that would be huge! Pictures help but videos are much more helpful for an amateur backyard mechanic like myself!

I started doing how to videos a few years ago on some motorcycle stuff I worked on and it just went on from there. It's a lot of work, but I like helping folks out and some of the stuff I see on YouTube is just awful. I'm a perfectionist....it's a blessing and a curse LOL

Holy crap i love the finish of the g2 on polished metal. i was actually planning to just get some duplicolor caliper paint and spray them but after seeing this and researching g2 is the way to go.

Ive been looking at some results pictures of others online and it seems the finish didnt look nearly as refined as yours due to 1) the polishing and 2) they just kept it mounted in their vehicle vs taking it off and doing it properly (just as you said, stuff on youtube nowadays :0)

I dont have access to an air compressor so using a die grinder is a bit out of the question ( i guess i could rent from home depot ) but do you think a grinding stone that covers enough area and a dremel would be good enough to get a similar finish to yours?

Honestly, the G2 paint is pretty thick. I bet it'd look "almost" as smooth as mine with just a good cleaning and painting. Two coats is the ticket. The decals set it off.

If you do want to move forward with the smoothing, plan on about 2 hours per caliper and have 2 sanding stones per caliper. The dremel can get it done, it will just take longer without air tools.
