Spiral cable wire to SRS Airbag

Is it ok to extend the length of the wire from the spiral cable to the airbag by about two inches? One of the wires from the spiral cable to the SRS Airbag has broken very near the airbag connector and if I'm going to splice/solder both ends of the wire, it will become shorter than the other wire. So, I'm thinking of adding two inches of wire to both wires to allow for proper splicing. But I'm concerned it will affect the response time of air bag deployment.

I can't provide you with an expert scientific analysis as to "if" it's safe to do it but it's just an electrical signal. I would guess as long as you provide a good quality repair I can't imagine it would make any difference.

I needed to replace the spiral cable on my 97 and I kept looking and found a super awesome deal on ebay. with shipping it was $20, new in the box. was it stolen? yea probably. you might want to keep an eye out and something will probably pop up.
