Sport edition roof rack end caps

Hey guys and gals,

Had one of my end caps fly off on my Sport edition roof rack the other day. Having had a Land Cruiser and previous 4Runner with the abs plastic caps that cost anywhere from $80-130 for just 1 cap, I was relieved to see the price for the sport edition roof rack caps were not that expensive. You also get the front and rear of whichever side you order.

Left/driver side: PT278-89060-LC
Right/passenger: PT278-89060-RC

Saw a lot of posts for the SR5 and limited roof rack caps but none that had the sport edition part numbers. Hope this helps for anybody that might be in the same boat in the future. They also now have a sleek black zip tie so I shouldn't have to worry about them flying off anymore.

My daughter has an '09 Sport. What happened? Did a couple nuts loosen and eventually come off? I have to admit this is one "maintenance" item I have apparently ignored...

They attach with a pressure type connection. If you pry up on it, it will pop off. I removed my OEM cross rails a while back and must not have gotten it back on tight like it should have been. Who knows. I wouldn't say it's a maintenance item per se.

How much did you pay for them and from who? When I looked at a dealership they were $85 just for the front cap. I'm missing both front caps so am very interested.

I paid $25 from my local dealer in Charlotte. But these are for the sport edition tube roof rack. Not the SR5/Limited roof rack. The end caps for those are much more expensive. I'm guessing because the are more of an abs type plastic.

Thanks for the information ... I've posted on here before looking for the part number without success. To your knowledge, these will fit any 4thGen Sport with tubular racks?

Thank YOU!! I just spent hours looking for the drivers side rear cap. Not easy to find the part number for the tubular rack models. I found a quote from Springhill Toyota in Mobile AL for $19.

many dealerships are selling their parts online and there are plenty of sales and different prices. I've bought parts from a couple of dealers but recently from this one:
