I've been interested in the sport hood for a couple years now, and have seen the same deals online as you guys have, cheap hood with expensive shipping, expensive hood with free shipping etc. then everyone has wildly varying guesses on how much it would cost to get it painted, and nobody quite knows what pieces, to buy seperately to fill the hole etc. After seeing all of these posts and never getting a very good answer for whether or not to do it, I decided to take a chance and share everything I learned.
Hood: D & H auto parts $179.00 shipped
-they painted it for $200.00 so $379.00 total

Hardware store
-5 nuts and washers to thread on the scoop. already forgot the size and pitch. just take it into the store and get them.
For the hood I found it on ebay but wound up calling to limit errors. look them up on ebay and they have an 800#. give them your paint code and general name of color (ex. red). came in 9 days from order. pakaging was great and gave confidence that it came from a reputable shop.
Scoop parts are not available aftermarket as far as I could tell so I called the local stealerships for the scoop parts and not only were they pretty rude and unknowledgable, but said the parts would be about $180.00. looked up toyota oem parts online and found many dealerships with better prices.
Everything was pretty simple to install the only thing I didn't switch over was the insulation part. They appear to be different and taking off the old onw would destroy most of the plastic fasteners, so I'll figure that part out later, maybe even just order a new one.
Summery, the hood and parts came quick with no damage to them. went together quickly and actually bolted up and fit really well on the first try, some fine tuning is in order when I have a little more time. My 4runner is 5 years old and I have to park outside to keep the wife happy, and the new paint matches very well. For roughly $500 I am very happy with the final result, and we will see in the months to come how the paint holds up. (they use factory oem paint supposedly).
