Modded Supra's are only expensive top maintain if you race them regularly just like any car. My friend has been racing his 440whp TT Supra for the last two seasons and it runs high 11s asl and the only thing he invested in was a set of drag radials for the stock wheels otherwise it's a very well behaved car around town and get about 20mpg in the city and near 30mpg on the highway.

I'd say a 300zx TT or a RX7 in my opinion.. true that the newer models lack the ooomph.. but sadly emission regulations are cutting back the real power...

I wished Nissan could have brought over the Silvia S15 that were favorites among the Drift society. sadly they are out of production.

Ahh,yes;another of the great cars that Honda,Nissan and Mitsubishi never sent us in the '90s.

I guess we should be impressed that Honda sent us a real Type R over even if it was only for a few model years.

I'm not a huge fan of American cars (besides the 4Runner, we also have a Tacoma), but I'm surprised no one mentioned the Mustang GT. You could get a nicely loaded convertible GT in that price range, especially if you wait until February to buy one. Also the GTO might work, even if the price tag might be a little higher than $27K.

To those that mentioned the G6 coupe, that seems like a pretty reasonable choice and is least likely to have astronomical insurance costs for a college student under 25. I had a 2000 Grand Am GT Coupe. It was fun to drive, and it had a decent amount of power, but it was a maintenance nightmare. Thank God for warranties. That said, hopefully the G6 won't be plagued with these issues. A 240 hp V-6 in a car that is presumably lighter than its predecessor sounds like a pretty good match!

I still prefer Japanese though. I like the new 350Z's. I took one out on a test drive and had it to 90 mph in no time at all. It handled really well also. I also drive a new RX8, and that car likes to be driven hard and fast. Also, it does have a fairly useable back seat.

I sure wish Toyota hadn't dropped out of the sports car market. The last Supras were bad ass. I even liked the last MR2's. It's depressing to know that the sportiest offering Toyota has is a SCION XC!!

in my opinion, i would buy an Accord. heard it's the best quality out of all Hondas. i also recommend Japanese cars because they have the most parts of ANYTHING you want to buy. if any parts from honda is broken, it could be fixed easily with a cheaper price. American cars is great like muscle cars but i don't think they last that long after all the power of dragging.

Actually, Honda's quality control is going to shit. Toyota/Lexus is the most reliable japanese brand now.

Parts aren't cheaper for japanese vehicles either. They're all about the same. They just don't need to be replaced as often as other makes.

350Z Touring are around $36K, the base Z with no traction controls are in the $27K range, but without the traction control your friend will get himself killed.

Actually, Honda's quality control is going to shit. Toyota/Lexus is the most reliable japanese brand now.

Uh yeah,I think Toyota and Honda are still pretty close to each other and being even "just" number 2 to Toyota is still a good thing.
