Sporty AWD manual cars.. which one?!

Quick search shows that Suzuki is in the $18K range sounds decent but IMH Suzuki should have stayed making motorcycles their one hit wonder saw the Samurai and it certainly has its niche market. Looks like the old school civic wagons of the 80's that were available with a manual and AWD.

Dont know if this is too high schoolish for you, but my buddy had an R32, I think 2004 or 2005. VW placed the price point higher on these because they wanted the high school crowd to go toward the GTI. But the AWD system is very stout, combo'ed with snow tires, I doubt any snow drift can stop it. I had a GTI with snow tires and I felt just as confident in its abilities as my 4runner. Granted, no extreme offroading, but for snow it was great. We lived on the tip of Lake Michigan in South Bend, IN, and got tons of snow at one time, he never got stuck with it, ever.

They are finally down to your price range used, and I NEVER had a problem with any of my 3 VW's, depsite them getting a bad wrap. The people who give them bad wraps buy the base level garbage and expect it to run like a champ forever. We all know this is not true of carmakers anymore, but those people don't...

if you're looking for a reliable AWD with some power and a manual, then get the proven best which is Subaru.. I don't see why not include the WRX in your list because they are great little cars and you get ALOT of car for your money, but if that's not to your liking the Legacy GT looks very nice and has a bit more room. The AUDI looks awesome but I would be leary of a high mileage car.. BMW's I just stay away from lol..

Why not just keep the 4runner and get a cheap sporty rwd vehicle?

Edit, just read your reasoning. Just get a diesel VW to DD, that will get you your fuel savings, then get a cheap sporty vehicle, and spend the rest on a cheap cherokee, and wheel the piss out of it, thats a way you can maximize your money.

After reading your post I agree with the Subaru. I'm like the wagon my self and there are S-ton of mods you can do with them. My fav. was a wagon with a full STI power train swap in it,Things was BA. My .02 bud.

Well you said you want a fast AWD car and then said you don't want either of the 2 main options that come to mind...

If you don't want a STI or an EVO the only other thing I would consider is an R32.

Get either the suzuki I mentioned above or the r32 if you don't want the wrx. There are only so many choices.

My buddy has a Speed6 and loves it, runs mid 12's with bolt ons and a tune without launching hard, gets 30+city and highway. Not only that but they made less speed6's than Lamborghini made gallardos, so you have the rare factor with it
