Spray on bedliner lower half side of truck?

So Ive got some rock chips on lower half side of truck on doors and lower body. Anyone ever used spray on bedliner on lower half? Thoughts? Suggestions? I think it would look nice. What's the process for doing it?

I painted my motorcycle in bedliiner black. finish was nice and very durable. no scrapchesin 4 years. preparation is the same as regular paint.. just clean it and scuff a little with 320 grit sandpaper. You can get bedliner in any color you want.

I did it with roll on (I brushed it meticulously) on the rocker panels and lower door areas. This was after rocker panel guard turned mushy after rust protection treatment so I went for the bed liner on the same lines.

I suggest spraying some black rattle can or whatever over the bedliner to keep it looking new and not fade. I've sprayed over bedliner many times and it keeps it looking good longer.

I did my limited fender flares with Rustoleum spray on bedliner. I really liked the outcome, so I did the rear bumper as well, and the front grill.

Still debating on weather or not to do the side cladding...

The paint on my flares were toast, the cladding is still in decent shape.

Im have a 98 limited and im about to do the fender wells and the door pieces due to the paint fading. Mines black though so should not be real noticable.

I wouldn't go near that far... I would keep it to the level of the limited bezels, down low.

I have not been impressed with the look of the bedliner over large areas. It's not paint, it doesn't have a nice finish like paint (at least in the pics I have seen). I think it might look really good if you keep it down low (give it a kind of FJ cruiser or Vehicross look), but I think it will look pretty bad if it is done over the majority of the body panels.

To each his own though, if you really like it, go for it, but check out some of the other bedliner paint jobs (I think there are some over on yotatech, or pirate or 1h8mud). I was not impressed with how they looked.

I guess it depends on how messed up the paint is and how offroad dedicated
the truck is as to whether it would look alright. One other thing to consider is
sometimes dirt is kinda hard to clean out of bedliner.

Heres an idea, try it with PLASTI-DIP first, this way if you dont like its not perminate :beer:

I think if your going to do it (I plan on doing it myself this summer...) make sure you buy a good quality bedliner and do tons of prep work. I have done quite a bit of research on different bedliners and IMO Al's Liner and Monstaliner seem to be the best over time. You want something that is UV resistant so it won't fade.

Bedliner on the body or flares is not my style, but I will say that you should look at a bunch of brands. There is one Durango in my area that the owner decided to bedline (the flares, grill, rocker). It looks like someone poured roofing tar or something on the truck, the texture of it is terrible!

Thanks for all the ideas and pictures. On the Plastidip, how do you take it off if you don't like it? I'm having doubts about the bedliner as far as keeping it looking clean. Otherwise to fix the problem I'm looking at a new paint job. Big $$$$ which I'd like to keep now that I've just shelled it out on the bumpers.
