Spring Overland Trip April 5-8

I’m bringing a bundle or two of firewood... I hear the deadfall isn’t close to the campsites. Hopefully some of you guys and gals can stash one or two in your rigs as well, looks like we should have some decent time to socialize in the evenings [emoji106]

Sounds good to me, I'll bring at least one bundle too.

Speaking of socializing, if anyone is planning on bringing alcohol and we are camping in state parks be aware that it is technically illegal in PA. I think the chances of anyone getting into trouble are very low, especially if people aren't getting too crazy, but at least be aware it is a thing.

I would like to mention that i was very frustrated trying to find beer and liquor stores in PA. Apparently beer is not sold grocery stores and liquor stores are very limited in Amish areas. I would recommend everyone buy there booze essentials early and not wait until you are close to camp like I did.

Good point, we're getting better though. You can find beer in most chain grocery stores and some gas stations, but we are still terrible compared to neighboring states.

First extended forecasts are up, looks like a lot of what we're experiencing now: 30's overnight and 40's during the day with chances of rain. It's going to be muddy, haha.

I see Sleeter posted one but wasn't sure if this was a recommendation or just an example of a GMRS.

Man, wish I could swing by like last year--sure was fun and worth the 13 hour drive!

Added link to 10-day look-ahead weather for State College PA. Where we will be sleeping will likely be 10-20* cooler than the lows stated in the forecast.

Looks like it is going to be chilly and possibly snowy.

Im still finalizing the route and working on lunch(on the trail) locations.

I'm in but it's looking more and more like I'll be there VERY late Friday or early Saturday. Really bad week with lots of CRAP going on at work lol.

Oh well- I'll be able to see some friends, drink and camp. I will be off the weekend and Monday too at least.

Guys, I am so excited for this trip. This place is beautiful with snow so I'm hoping we get some. Bring your warm sleeping bag! So excited!

I just got a chance to take a look at the campsites and now I'm even more excited. When I was at PSU I spent a bunch of time out in the woods, especially Black Moshannon and Rothrock. There are a lot great places between where we are staying!
