Although it's not needed for this trip, spoke to Scott from ARB yesterday, he said snorkels should be in stock in 30 to 45days. Can't wait!! Would love to have it installed prior to this trip.

What type of two-way / cb radios are you guys using?

The kinda that operates on 40 AM CB Channels, or the other type which uses With 15 GMRS and 7 FRS channels? Looking to pick something up that is compatible.

I see I'm late for the reply but thought I would add my $.02.

I have the Midland 75-822 40 AM CB Channel kit like [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] has which can be handheld with battery pack and Duckie antenna and has a car adapter kit which plugs into the cigarette lighter and an external CB antenna.

One thing to note if you want to use the car adapter kit but still want to use the rubber Duckie antenna you have to cover one contact on the adapter that brings in the external CB antenna feed. A simple piece of electrical tape about the size of a thumbnail should do it. Otherwise with the external antenna pin connecting, it will disable the input from the Duckie antenna.

I too like [MENTION=138048]01100101[/MENTION] have the Diamond K400 mount but I went with the Firestik Firefly 3' antenna and the fire-ring antenna cable instead of the 2' antenna . Quick release adapter and heavy duty spring.

Another note: the 4MM hex pins that come with the Diamond K400 to hold it on the inner lip of the lift-gate edge are a tad too long and will make contact with the "D" pillar when the rear lift-gate is closed. I bough a set of smaller ones that are a perfect fit from McMaster Carr.

I also plan on bringing the two Motorola talkabouts 15 GMRS and 7 FRS radios just in case.

If I can make it, I'll bring two pairs of handhelds for others to use.

I was at the Buckeystown Pike Home Depot in Frederick and they have a cheap set of Motorolas on the bottom shelf of their clearance end cap in the lighting are for like $30.

I just added the diamond K500 mount on the Gobi ladder but use the Diamond K400 mount for my HAM radio antenna.

1, Will I be in trouble and get stuck on the trail.
2, Front and rear bumper going to get damage? quote "One section of this loop will be challenging for stock vehicles but doable"
3, Running board, must be remove?

I've never been on this particular trail path, but if it's not too difficult to take off the steps, do that. I wouldn't worry too much about your bumpers. They might snag on some things here and there, but I've navigated my LE (very low trim) through some pretty rough stuff without doing damage. I did get the rear snagged on a stump once and it popped the clips, but they all snapped right back together. [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] was there so he'll vouch for that.

I think the biggest factor will be your tires, but if these are mostly dirt trails, I'm sure you'll be fine.

If you do come out (it's a lot of fun), none of us want to see you damage your truck, so don't rush something you aren't comfortable with. Take your time and holler for a spotter if you need one.

Also, my wife said she's definitely down. We also may have her sister tag along in her bfs jeep. Hurdle 1 cleared. Now we have to secure babysitting arrangements. I'm stoked!

On another note, I'm really looking forward to this too because my family used to have a large property down outside of Upper Tract, but my grandparents sold it for retirement, so it's been a long time since I've been back. It's gorgeous down there.

1. I highly doubt anyone will get stuck. Getting vehicles unstuck (recovered) is fun and safe when done correctly.
2. I'll say no, 4th gens are pretty badass ass with Atrac and stock tires.
3. Definitely a good idea for Friday.

Your tires will do fine, I took a stock sr5 over pearl pass (CO) on the Bridgestones and it did fine.

going to Meadow Knob is probably the only rough spot. Flagpole and Reddish Knob are both fairly easy.

I think I did part of this trail last year with [MENTION=125025]GHARP57[/MENTION]. It was a good time. This trail seems to go a lot farther north than where we went. I might make the drive down for this trip. Will have to see what my schedule is like.

1 & 2: I went through Flagpole in my stock L.E. w/ KO2s and there was also a stock SR5 that was with us. We both did fine.

3: I would recommend removing them.

Here's part of the trail at Flagpole where it is a bit tricky. You can get pretty close to that tree on the passenger side.

This was the stock SR5.
