Sprint Booster DEAL for 5th Gen 4Runner

I posted this this in the other Sprint Booster thread.
I have read a lot of the positives, and but what are the negatives or potential pitfalls? I understand that it doesn't add horsepower - there is always that guy that repeats what has been discussed over and over. And by eliminating the delay to acceleration, you would have to improve your 0-60 time, you are literally taking a delay off - the definition of delay is literally "make (someone or something) late or slow". My question is for the mechanics in the room - I have a new Runner with less than 1k miles. I want to get one, but what could the negatives be to an engine by this product, and should I give the engine another 1k miles before I start hard revving this beast?

Thanks for any info

I would wait....

Just got of the phone with Jason (via text).....he answered my text within a min, I asked two questions, he responded with 2 mins.
Clicked "Finalize order", his actual reply got to me before it reached my inbox. Outstanding, if the product is as good as the customer service, I'll be more than happy.

Jason, I'll let you know when I install it and place a small review.

Thanks Again.

OK I have had the Sprint Booster in my Runner now for almost a month, had the little toggle thingy handy so I could switch between settings.

First off, thank you Jason for answering my text's so rapidly, I apparently tried to install it backwards and was texting Jason thinking he had sent the wrong unit out.....Nope! two quick pictures and Jason was like "dude, looks like your trying to install the unit upside down" Anyway, once flipped over no problemo.

Now I started trying it out on green 1.....lowest setting, couldn't tell the difference...moved on up and up and up, finally settled on red 1, just enough pep to get the girl up n moving but not so jerky as other higher settings, Red 9 the highest setting is too much, any little input onto the go pedal and you snap your neck off.

Anyway now I am satisfied with what setting I have it on, I can unplug the toggle thingy and put it away in my glove box.

Am I happy with the product? Yes, is the customer service good with the product? Absolutely YES! Would I recommend this to others? HELL YES!.

Thanks Jason.....

Just purchased my sprint booster from Jason at Burtman Industries. Can’t wait to feel the difference everyone is experiencing.

Just placed my order from Jason - love my new 4R, but the pedal/throttle lag is annoying!!!

Can't wait to get the Sprint Booster and install it!!!

Thanks for all the replies and feedback! This is the best selling item I have now, I've sold more of these than Lift Kits and S&B intakes COMBINED.

I've also been selling these to a few Toyota dealerships being install on brand new 4Runners! Many dealers have gotten complaints right after being purchased from customers thinking something is wrong with the truck, as new buyers are not used to the delay on these trucks. This fixes it and keeps everyone happy. These will work now on all year 5th gens.

Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, just got more in stock, ships same day.

Order mine Friday night on the website for my 2020 premium. Jason emailed me within an hour telling me I will receive it this week. Excited to get this installed. The pedal response is so bad.

Race 9 is my favorite setting... unless you're wearing some heavy-ass boots you should be able to control your accelerations well. There is less guesswork involved in accelerating which has increased my MPG and confidence when trying to enter a highway/busy street. This has made it worth the cost for me.

Install took 15 minutes including leaving the door open for 10 minutes while CAN system checked for errors.

Potential Dangers might include:
Driving someone who gets carsick easily? Turn it off. Driving any other time? It's safer and more fun to leave it in Race 9.
Also, letting someone drive your car and leaving it in a high setting. They will probably just think the car is "touchy" though...

I'm no mechanic but it won the SEMA award which I would assume it would not have earned if potentially dangerous for the engine. Engines work better under load and realistically, this device is no different than what is happening regularly when you press the pedal, just with no delay. I'm curious to see what any mechanics may say especially those with experience with throttle mapping controllers like these and the effects of a rapid throttle-body opening vs the factory slow response.

Excited to get my Sprint Booster!

After reading the great reviews on the Sprint Booster, I decided to pull the trigger and can't wait to get it!

Damn the new rig is draining my bank account faster than my ex-wife :)

Big thanks to Jason, arrived super quick. Got it installed yesterday but didn't get a chance to really drive it until today running a bunch of errands. Started out on the Sport modes and could tell a difference right away, into Race modes even more. There is enough adjustment between to find something that suits you.

I found that the high end of the sport mode seemed good, coming home I went to Race 9 but even the slightest pedal pressure wanted to downshift.

I would describe the feel of the unit as not so much as quickening the TB opening but almost "pre-loading" the pedal. Before it felt like I was pushing and pushing, now I it actually feels responsive.

Is it worth $279? That's going to be the question for a lot of people. But looking at the insane amount of money people throw on mods it's pretty minimal in the scheme of things. Adding in the valet modes and pedal lock helps justify the value a little. Is it going to turn your 4Runner into a Hellcat? No, but it does help with one of the shortcomings.

Pulled the trigger on SB as well. Any pix on where you've mounted your controller? Trying to get some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Besides the Pedal Commander being $200 with discounts on Amazon, and this unit $279, what is the difference ? They both do the same thing, but the Pedal commander looks like you can control via Bluetooth.

Any other differences ?

Just looking at options now and it seems it's going to come down to the price.

Check out post #26 on this thread

I picked the SB because of it's small form factor....I didn't plan on messing around with it much, so I couldn't care less about all the settings for blue tooth. I've had mine on the same setting on the SB since I installed it over a year ago.

Helped a friend installing his over the weekend (mostly the mounting of the control part). I noticed if he turns off the LED display by pressing the main button for 3 seconds, the LED does go out leaving only the Mode light on, however, I also noticed there is a single red dot at the lower right of the LED display, does that mean anything? Just curious as the single red dot means M/T is selected, but the switch is in A/T.

Where are you seeing $200.00 for pedal commander or was that just for cyber Monday?

Ordered 2/1.5 spacers, spidertraxx wheel spacers and the Sprint booster from Jason. Awesome guy on the phone and text. Very fast response!

Glad to help you out. This thing is really incredible. I've said it before - the delay in these trucks is horrible and turns the 5th gen from slug into a rabbit. Super huge difference. I've sold both the Pedal commander and Sprint Booster and the Sprint Booster just works that much better and easier to install as there's no brain box you have to hide and no issues with bluetooth radio's. It just works better all around.

Yep. I like Race 9, but some people are so used to the delay in these trucks they put it in Green 7-9. I think anyone that puts it on Green should give a month a so to get used to it, then you can bump it up to the red setting.

Hahaha. Maybe if you get her one, she'll leave you alone from here on out. lol.

thanks Jason!

Glad to help all of you out.

Burtman Industries Sprint Booster, ships same day, EXPRESS SHIPPING!

If anyone is ordering and wants a cool T shirt, and you agree to come back and post a review on here, just include you SIZE shirt when ordering (there's a notes box in the last stage of checkout)

Quick shipping. Ordered Friday and it was delivered Monday. Thanks Jason.

It definitely adds responsiveness to the 4runner. Red 5 will launch the vehicle nicely...I will probably settle on green 5 or a low red number.
