Serious question.
Has anyone logged before and after sprint booster runs?
Wondering if the more aggressive tip-in on throttle could have any impact on transient knock, and/or negatively affect longterm engine and transmission reliability.
If not, I may have to pick one of these up soon!
Any update on this? I'd think ramping throttle too much at low revs or wot midrange could increase knock. My Miata tuner used to have me log his tune revisions from near lugging conditions to see where and how bad knock would be when he adjusted timing advance and AFR targets.
But if the Sprint Booster just reduces a throttle delay it might not be a prob? Does it increase throttle intensity too tho?

That's what it does. No HP gain, no power gain, everything just feels more instant since the drive by wire still isn't as good as direct link throttle cable that goes to the throttle body.

It's possible Toyota set the possible max acceleration of the throttle position to protect against tip in knock due to AFR changes (getting richer) that can't keep up with throttle position change otherwise, to prevent detonation.
It's also possible Toyota did it to reduce tip in AFR enrichment by the ECU purely to save gas a bit.
Would be cool to see some Ecutek logs of round-town or highway driving pre and postbooster.

I received my SprintBooster from Jason B four days after placing the order. Thanks. I was skeptical but it really works well and gets rid of the mushy stock accelerator pedal feeling of my 2018 TORP. Now it accelerates more like my wife’s Subaru Forester Turbo.
I’m experimenting with the settings and prefer the lower green range right now.
The worst part of the installation was removing the plug from the top of the pedal while on the floor on my back. The trick is to find and press the plug release tab at the top of the plug near the wires. Then it wiggles off easily.
I used nylon zip ties to attach the pedal unit, keeping the top wires away from the heater pipes. When you do that, the bottom harness wires are close to the threads of one of the pedal bolts so I glued a foam spacer there to prevent abrasion. Kind of overkill, but that’s OCD for ya.
I mounted the control unit in the recessed plug blank to the right of the steering wheel. First I removed the blank and drilled a small hole from the back side. By carefully depressing the detent tabs on the red and black pins in the white plug, I removed the two wires and slid them through the hole in the blank. Then reinstalled them into the plug, then plugged it back into the pedal unit. I attached the controller with Velcro to the blank.
I’m pleased with the performance and hope it lasts the life of the truck.
Update - I have had mine installed since 2/2017 and it is still going strong. I still say it's the best mod for this truck. Still loving it.
