Sprint Booster

Every 4Runner should have a Sprint Booster.

My setup...yes, i only get 13.3mpg due to all the extra weight and lift, larger tires, has nothing to do with the sprint booster. Yep, my 2016 only has 17k miles on it and already had to replace the UCA's....off-roading and driving in a city that mimics a bombed country will do that.

Yep, and if Toyota put one in every vehicle from the factory, I'd be outta business. haha. This part is no joke my best selling part for the 4Runner. I do Lift Kits, Gibson Exhausts, Headers, and pretty much anything and everything else and this still is the best selling item I have.

Took the plunge and just ordered The Sprint Booster. Look forward to receiving and installing it! Thanks Jason for your assistance today.

Cool, glad to help you out.

Installed this afternoon and was out playing with it just now. WOW!!!

The truck actually has some getup and go!

Played with Red 5 and Green 7.

Who knew you could spin all 4 tires in 4H so easily!

Lol, awesome. I love posts like this. :)

Still waiting on mine, but am looking forward to it.

Is it true that you can set it on whatever setting you want and unplug the controller cable so you don’t have to run it anywhere? I’ll probably set it and forget it

Yes! that's what's cool, you do not have to mount that controller. You can set it on say green 7, etc, then unplug it and it will save that setting forever. Even if your car battery dies.

Just installed this today. Set it and just stuffed the controller in the side under the dash. Race 8. Totally transforms how the car drives. Its still a POS 5 speed transmission, but so much more responsive. My daily a Tesla P100D that does 0-60 in 2.3 and a 10.4 1/4, so to get into the 4Runner it was such a dog and felt so ancient. This really makes a big difference. Id say its a must have mod, and probably one I would have done first.

Yep! Most people end up telling me "I shouldn't have waited this long to get it" because many have a hard time believing it's this good.

If anyone installs this and doesn't say "Holy SH!T" I'll give you a full refund.

Honest...it is that damn good. I've S/C an RS4 in the past, had numerous 911s I modded, and on and on.........this little thing, that doesnt look like much has made the biggest difference of any of my Chips/mods.....

Quick question....I can read the reviews and people love it.

I also read it can sometimes cause a code to be thrown. If it does, is it a simple reset with an OBD tool? Can any permanent electrical damage be done due to different readings? If so, what could a possible repair cost to replace the drive by wire system?

That’s my only hang up. Not having a full understanding of any short falls or errors.

I've never thrown a code and don't see why it ever would.

Ive been to both websites for these products and I read the thread I found about this but there really isn't a comparison I could find.

Peddle Commander vs. Sprint Booster
Pedal Commander vs. Sprint Booster

Why would you buy a

Sprint boost over a Pedal Commander ?

Pedal Commander over a Sprint Booster?

I read reviews on both and it seemed like people had pretty equal responses which were all positive and excited.

I think I went with the Pedal Commander because it was Bluetooth and the SB wasn’t? All I know is that it hooked into the throttle controller and slipped right down into the center console behind the plastic side piece for your knees are near. Can’t see anything even if you put your head down there and try to look around. Only way to get it out is to follow the cable with tour fingers and start pulling it out. I can connect via the phone app anytime I want to change it (can turn it off before going to dealer)

Had it a couple months now. Love it.

For what it's worth, I'm finding the more aggressive settings are giving me a little trouble with the kickdown dropping down gears a little quicker than I'd like. After dropping my setting down one notch, then two, it is much more to my liking. Keep experimenting until you find what you like.

I still haven't installed mine. Have 1 more free service (20k miles) at the dealer, then plan to install it.

Questions - the instructions mention (I'm paraphrasing from memory) opening the door and letting the vehicle rest for awhile. Did everyone do that and is it required?

Also - any noticeable effect on MPG? Has your MPG gone down since using the Sprint Booster?

I turned off the annoying Eco light but I like that Eco Bar. Does using the Sprint Booster make the Eco Bar useless?
I never read the directions and had no issue with the install. However when I traded the old runner I went to pull it out, went to start the runner and engine died after a few seconds that never happened before. It was fine after that one time! Lesson learned, read the damn directions, lol
MPG? well the 1st few days of enjoying the zoom zoom feature mpg dropped like a tank, once I drove my normal easy going pace It actually went up ~1mpg. Could have to do with engine break in period??? not sure as they say mileage goes up with more miles

Haha!! Just spit out my drink laughing! Hilarious. And that's great to hear. What's even funnier is I've sold a lot of these to people with tunes on those type of cars, and a tunes cannot do what this does. Sold one to a guy with a 997 Turbo with a Cobb tune on it, and made a huge difference.

I've never thrown a code and don't see why it ever would.

Received my shipment from Jason today. (Fast shipping btw) Installed and tested right away. Tested sport 5, race 6, and sport 7. Sport 7 seems good for daily driving, but love the punch of Race 6. Can’t wait to play around with it more to find the sweet touch.

I’m not big in writing reviews, but the hype is real. No wonder the common trend in that “top 5 mod” thread, majority speaks highly of this sprint booster.

Definitely worth the money, and Jason responds quickly with great customer service.

Almost bought a pair of n-fab nerf bars, but went with the SB instead.

This is a crazy question.

I know the standard procedure when installing these is to open the door and leave it open for 10 minutes.

Is there any other way to get past the system check the car does during that 10 minutes, other than leaving the door open? The reason I ask is because the mosquitoes are absolutely rampant down here at the moment near me and if I leave the door open for 10 minutes, I'll surely look like I have some sort of chicken pox the next time I drive it from the amount of bites.

This works for me. I'm allergic to Skeeters and swell up from the bites

I've heard crazier ones :) Yea, disconnect ground on battery, plug sprint booster in, then reconnect battery.

I’d recommend just following the directions as is. As far as the open driver side door, you’ll need to keep it open anyway just to dangle your feet and torso out of the truck while performing the upside down contortions to install the unit and dress the wires out of the way of the heat pipe.

Just use DEET!

Good point - those heater core pipes are real darn close to those wires.
