Boingo boingo, fellow mutants!
LoneStar Toyota Jamboree! !!Stampede race!!
This first fun race was a blast! The 4Runner earned a solid 2nd place, with the final time 0.2 seconds behind the winner. :guitar2:
Carnage:
1. One CV boot slid out of socket. That was ziptied back to normal (no tearing)
2. One Cam bolt adjusted during the moguls. Cam bolt was moved back to correct alignment. Still driving today with zero issues.
3. One Reservoir's mounts broke, but they were only zipties anyway (hadn't figured out a good spot to weld the reservoir mounts yet). Ziptied back on with no problems.
Takeaways from the race:
-Have fun! Pre-race gitters are reasonable and normal.
-Fear keeps you smart. Having no fear is just as dangerous as too much.
-Plan a course ahead. Plan two lines incase one is unreachable.
-Send it responsibly! Drive like you own it, but know that the work day's commute is coming.
-Spunk's rear tires rub on the Shrockworks bumper. The tires are a wee bit large for that section, so an angle grinder is in the near future.
P.S. The companies that came out to Jambo were the real deal, boots on the ground practical folk. If you're on the fence about any of the groups that repped there, I encourage you use their stuff. They definitely put their best feet forward on this one.

You’ll find the FJ axle to be a perfect match width wise. I have a 4th gen axle sitting under my rig and have the opposite problem - I need the front LT now.
For fab, nothing lines up with stock geomoetry other than the upper link towers. Everything else needs to be addressed.

Thanks for the heads up, I look forward to figuring it out. That may become time for a good three link setup.

Update!
After the good feedback from Jambo, I am proceeding with the design of a roll cage. The intention is to have it certified to Score in order to race the Baja 1000. It's in its infancy right now, many diagonals need to be added, but PVC piping does a great job of simulating the bend radii required in addition to the tubing dimensions. The shapes will go right into a solidworks model for FE analysis and manufacturing.
That, and it's time to shop for race seats, so I'm trying to sit in as many brands and models as I can before going to be fitted for one.

Here's the photos from fitup today.
A Pillars and B Pillars tacked together.
Made a offset mount for the dashbard's cross bar, so the front cross bar can fit.

Since there's a cross bar in the front, now the gauge cluster needs a new home.
It's all really rough at this point, but I trimmed the black molding of the cluster, and glued on a plexiglass sheet. That way, it sits in a smaller footprint. Now onto mounts. I changed out burnt out bulbs with LED's in the meantime.

this cage is drool worthy lol
The COVID-19 problem has forced a break. Once the world opens back up again, I'll weld again.
Three notable things have occurred.
1. Drove it for 20-30 miles to a temporary storage place, got some good thumbs up on the highway.
2. A Tubing bender has been ordered. More tubing needs to be bent. JD2 Model 32. Everything is 6.5" CLR on this one.
3. Weldable paint has arrived--Steel-it. Yeah, this weldable paint is worth the money.
Upcoming: Sourcing more 2" tubing. The warehouse was two sticks short, so I'll buy more of them once all this blows over--I have plenty of 1-3/4 for filler though, so I'll be welding up the overhead and rear areas until I can buy the 2".

Where did you source the Steel-it paint? First look led me to believe it could only be purchased by the case at over $300. BTW... looking good man!
