Squeaking Front Suspension

A bit after I got my lift my car developed a horrible squeak. At first I thought it was my rear sway bars but I figured out it's coming from the front. My dad said it sounds like a pump squealing but we just had that done and it only happens when going over bumps or when I rock the car from the outside. I texted my mechanic and he said something probably just needs to be lubed.

I was wondering what y'all thought and how I could check it myself instead of having to go and drop off my car. I don't have aftermarket UCA's so I can't lube any zurks.

I don't remember who, but this was discussed the other day with the OP posting a video. Most likely the front bushings as they squeak terribly when they go bad.

UCA bushings? If they are bad could I put something nicer in there or will that not fit? Also The little rubber things on the sway bar are torn but I feel like that would make more of a minor sound.

This sound makes me embarrassed to drive it's so loud and frequent.

you'd be really surprised how much noise sway bar bushings can make when they go bad
 
My lca bushings and tie rods were shot, like wobbled out ready to fall off shot! I bought a kit that replaced lca's, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links for $217. I also put on LR uca's at the same time.
Mine was like you said, so loud it was embarrassing.

Yikes that sounds like a lot. Hopefully it's less than that otherwise my wallets about to feel a lot of pain (being a broke high schooler).
 
It's cheaper and easier to replace the whole thing than just the bushings. If the lca bushings and/or balljoints are shot.
You also have to add the price of cam bolts onto that as they are almost always froze in there. $40-$60 for those. If they're froze you have to cut them out which entails a really good and expensive Sawzall blade made for cutting high strength steel and a ton of cussing. Check out my build thread and you can see what I did.

Yea I'm almost positive that it's nothing that major but I'll definitely still check that. I've had my fair share of cussing with a sawzall when cutting holes in my friend's rear steel bumper for some flush mounts.

I hope it's not what mine were. If I was closer I'd come help you check and fix, but I live in the great white north away from everyone! Lol

Check your exhaust hangers!! I thought mine was coming from the front but it ended up being my rear exhaust hanger that was rusting and squeaking over bumps and stuff
 
Get somebody to drive over a bump with you outside, if you have a gopro or something mount it somewhere close to the front suspension and review the video.

I had a squeak in mine, ended up being the front swaybar contacting the springs when driving over bumps. That was due to the universal swaybar brackets I was using and was fixed by moving the swaybar all the way to the front. If still running stock swaybar brackets, prob. not your issue.

Check that all the bolts are torqued down? A loose bolt would prob. result in a clunking/banging sound rather than a squeak, but doesn't hurt to check.

Also, extended sway bar links. Front needs shorter, back needs longer. Unless running over the standard 3/2" lift, typically not needed. Front needs shorter because you pushed where the swaybar connects to the suspension down from the frame. To return it stock geometry, you'd have to shorten it. Reverse that for the rear :) (2nd Gen 4RUnner rear links are supposed to be 1" longer and a direct swap.)
