squeaky steering wheel

Hey my wheel squeaks when you turn right , Any idea how to make that go away , it just started after a small easy dirt road drive.

Stock suspension or modified? How many miles on it? Could be a uniball, bushing, or steering rack or even something as simple as sand/dirt that got in somewhere. Did you give it a good wash after the dirt road?

Stock suspension , 60k miles , first time on dirt dusty road, haven't washed it yet just got back that will be tomorrow

Give it a good wash making sure to get your suspension components. Turn the wheels all the way left and wash both sides then turn all the way right and repeat. Check your boots for any signs of damage while you're at it. I'll bet the squeak goes away after you wash the suspension.

steering wheel right ? , mine started to do the same thing a few months ago when you turn right it's like a light squeak sound behind the steering wheel like somethings rubbing or needs to be lubricated. I have 31,000 miles on mine.noticeable at slow speeds like parking or turning in your driveway.

Add some lithium grease to the U joint in the steering column linkage.

Mine was doing the same thing and I tracked it down to the rubber steering column boot. It took all but 1 minute to fix, I just sprayed some silicon lube and that did it. If you look under the dash you'll see the boot on the fire wall, you can't miss it.

Since you pointed me in the right direction I've been keeping some WD40 in the truck , then finally tonight it started to make that squeaking sound and I was ready for it ! A few small squirts and fixed. it appeared to me that the Grease had dried up a little bit the WD loosened it up it fixed it perfect all quiet now thanks again.

Jemima's started to squeek around the time I hit 90k mi and I moved to NC when it was below 50... Looks like some grease is in order. Thanks.

I am having same issue. Where the shaft enters the firewall from the inside-there are some bushings. I have sprayed silicone lubricant and it goes away for a couple of months. Hoping for a more permanent solution.
