sr5 front strut coils

Need some pros to answer this.

I have a 2014 SR5 and am replacing the front struts with a 2018 set of trd off road struts. I see that the SR5 has 1 extra coil on the driver side, however the off road is the exact same size for both driver and passenger. Is this going to create a lean?

If I'm not mistaken, they should be the exact same struts and coils. Though presumably your new ones have less mileage. SR5 and TRD Offroad suspension is the same.

I don't think any changes were made between 2014 and now to those components, but I could be wrong.

It's hard to say, but probably will if you have no lean now. There are a lot of variations in springs and shocks over the years that are small differences.

FWIW - the TRD OR shocks are the same as the SR5. This isn't true for all model years, but generally is true for all of the newer ones. The only difference between the two coilovers is the springs. So I don't think you're going to find much benefit unless your current shocks are damaged or worn out. Otherwise you're just swapping the same thing back in.

My issue is that the sr5 seems to have 8 coils on passenger and 9 on driver. The off road are both 8 . Does the driver have to have that extra spring coil to prevent the lean? It seems they are side specific for the sr5 but not for the off road which is confusing me.

I am at 100k miles and feel a little sluggish, and got the complete set for $100 so figured it was a good time to replace them all. Stock ride is fine to me, does great on trails and its my daily

As long as your replacing them as a front pair, you should be fine.

The Off road with 8 coils on both side must have KDDS all others are the same 9 coils on driver side 8 on the passenger side hope this helps others also

I bought a set of new strut assemblies from a 2022 owner and installed on a 4th gen 2006 SR5. Both coils had orange/white dots and same coil count. I've only been driving it for a week but It seems to ride okay so far. Perhaps the stiffer coils aren't impacted as much on the lighter 4th gen. Should I attempt to locate a 9 coil for the driver's side and reinstall?
With gas tank 3/4 full, I measured from floor to bottom of fender and the driver's side sits approximately 3/4 inch lower than passenger.
Options: 1) Leave it as-is assuming the 3/4 inch height difference is within tolerance. 2) Add a spacer to the driver's side. 3) Locate a 5th gen 9-count coil and replace the driver's side. 4) Pull both sides and replace the coils with the old 4th gen coils (keeping the 5th gen shocks). Thoughts?

Update: I had the dealership perform a wheel alignment after the suspension change. No issues after 6 months of driving and the 3/4" height difference isn't noticeable.
