SR5 pricing/offer help

Looking for help with what a reasonable price is. Looking to get the 2010 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD with premium package, convenience pacakage, audio package, back up camera, and floor mats.

MSRP of $36,279
Invoice of $32,800

Am I being unrealistic to think I can stick firm on $33,000 and get one? Can I do even better? I am willing to drive within a 4 hour range to find it at that price. I am also willing to wait up to 6 weeks (but the sooner the better as my car is only safe to drive for another week and I'll have the hassle of borrowing cars until I can get a new one).

Go ahead and offer it to every dealer within 200 miles and see if someone bites. Can't hurt. :)
 
I think 3279 off sticker is a bit unreasonable on a SR5 but if you can get someone to bite on that deal i'd go for it. I would imagine you'd have dealers work a bit more with you if you throw out 33,300 as a number.

It all depends where you live also. Some areas can't keep 4wd SR5's on the lot so they would probably just have a quiet chuckle and delete your email offer...
 
I would look at their online inventory. Most Toyota dealerships have their inventory online in my neck of the woods. I assume it is similar in other parts of the country as well. Find a dealer with the SR5 you want (options and color). Also check to see how many 4Runners they have available. If you find a dealer with the exact match you want and they have many others in stock, I would contact the Internet Department and offer them your price.

About to put a deposit on the same one for 33,300 but also has backup camara. Hope that helps!
 
Talked to a bunch of dealers and getting one for $2700 under MSRP at $33,700 at 2.95% APR for 60. Put a deposit down today, driving 3hrs to meet the dealer half way. Good luck
 
I think if you'll find there are two primary schools of thought on TR4.org - some think getting a 4Runner @ invoice is next to impossible... but if you look, you'll see that some people have gotten invoice. If I were you, I would wait until the 27th or 29th where sales folks are trying to make their quotas.

Personally, I won't pay over invoice - and I'm not too concerned about it happening. You just have to work it - and send out for quotes using Edmunds and be clear that you're willing to pull the trigger if they can hit your ideal number.

How did you get 2.95% apr? Is this through the dealer or a credit union?

Dealer says they will get the vehicle for me tomorrow, so hopefully it is all as expected. I'll post the specs when the deal is complete.

Preapproved from Bank of America at 3.5%. Hoping dealer will better that. Also taking my current car to see if they will take it off my hands ;):
 
Picked up my new SR5 last night!

Slight issue so I ended up with an extra feature - the sliding cargo tray. Local dealer picked it up from 4 hours away - the gray seemed harder to find - so I didn't have to drive for it.

Paid $33,300 which I was fine with if I could get the color I wanted and if I didn't have to drive to get it.

Got $ for my trade, which was better than expected, and 3% from Toyota.

Feel like I could have done better, but I am okay with how it turned out.

Specs: Magnetic Gray Metallic & black interior with premium package, convenience package, audio package, back up camera, sliding cargo tray, and floor mats.
