SR597Runner's Build Thread

I initially thought about the wheel spacer thing because I kept having a clean section of the UCA. I had my dad push down on the suspension and turn the wheel and whatnot while I eyeballed it and it's fine. I got wheel spacers anyway because I'm still kinda tucked up under the limited flares and I wouldn't mind the wider stance.

I had 265/70/16s before on the same rims and they were fine, so I don't think it's that. I think it just feels floaty because of the lift.

I still can't get anyone to look at my truck though. The shop that put the lift on seems pretty unorganized as far as scheduling. I really feel like it has to be the height of the coils, but I can't be sure.

As far as lifting your truck, if you're going with 265/75 maybe just do 2" Probably what I should have done.

I still may try to exchange my tires for 285, but if I stick with duratracs they E only. I could go back to BFG like iI had before, but their D range weighs more than the E duratrac by a few lbs. The BFG in E is actually lighter than the D I guess because it isn't severe snow rated. Anyway, I know everyone says E is too stiff, but now that my suspension is pretty soft (and will get softer if I lower the coils) maybe I would prefer a stiffer tire. The problem then is more $$ and I'm concerned about losing power because of the size.

On a positive note, I sold my old tires yesterday and I'm meeting with someone Monday to unload my old rims. All of that keeps me close to having only paid $200 for the new tires! Finally something went my way!

Ordered new rims!

i know there is a debate over whether or not wheel spacers cause more stress etc etc... but either way i think the general consensus is that HUB centric is better than LUG centric when it comes to spacers. Turns out the spacers i ordered are lug centric, so i decided to send them back. The least expensive hub centric spacers i can get are around $160, so i decided to just get new wheels with a bigger offset.

the new wheels cost me $430 after tax and installation and rebates and all, and i figure i can sell the current wheels for a minimum of $350-400. with that, i come out ahead of just buying spacers. here's a pic... it's the Level 8 Tracker from discount tire. they're 16x8.5 just like my current wheels, but they have a -25mm offset. they'll be in next week!

New Wheels!!!

Stopped by Discount Tire today on my day off to figure out the mileage since the last rotation on our Honda Civic, and coincidentally my new wheels had arrived! I wasn't expecting them for another couple of days. While I was waiting for the install, I found out that my old wheels were actually not -6 offset like I thought, but were instead a +16. So, I was actually running 5mm closer IN than my stock wheels.

These new ones I got today are -25, so I'm about 1.6" further out on each side. I most definitely clear the control arms now, but I had to do some cutting on my side steps.

I like the stance now. Not too far out from the fenders... just right!

i have the duratracs in 285 E and i dont think they are too stiff , if anything i would think the c rated sidewall is to thin and weak .

after driving it for a while, i feel like the C range is good for me. after i lowered the front a little bit it feels a little less floaty, but also i need to replace the bushings in my steering rack. that probably has something to do with it. all things considered, i'm pretty happy with my tires now and i'm glad i went with C.
