staggered tires? 285s wide in rear 265 in front?

my 4runner is all street.. never off road, would it be lame if i put big o fat wide tires in the rear and stock size in the front?
what is the widest tire that would fit on the back? something that i could find a match for the front but not so wide..?
there would be no rubbing issues in the rear if i went with like a 285/65/17 and front 265/65/17
anyone does this?

Depending on your year and if you a 4x4 it will not work. Even if you don't use it, the tire size difference will play havoc on your VSC by having different speeds on different axles.

If you have a 4x2, it will not cause as many issues.....but you'll have to see about the 285s rubbing in the rear....

You can actually go 275/60/17 in front (lots have done it without rubbing) and possibly 285/55/17 (not sure if this size exists or rubs in back.)

The VSC/ATRAC/ABS will be OK as long as the overall diameters are similar (almost identical) with whatever sizing you use.

i like the bfg longtrail comes in 275/60/17
looked on tirerack for 285/55/ dont exist..
no 285/60 exist either
no 285/65 either

there are some 285/70s but not in long trail
that would probally look weird...with 275/60s in front

maybe ill just do all 4 275/60 bfgs long trail
the suspension would be a little stiffer right?

ive got xreas. anyway i can soften up the suspension..
the bumps bump pretty hard...
dont wanna make it worse..

so 275/60s dont rub? how bout 275/65?
i have the spidertraxx spacers on too.. so they would prob rub

Just run the 275/60's...I have them in Toyo Proxes S/T.

I just convinced another member, Kinchy to put them on his as well

i like the white lettering on the bfgs but not really into the off road look tire.. i want street summer performance

You will not be able to rotate your tire and therefore will not get max life out of the tires. If it is a 4th gen you may have problems with the VSC. I would suggest finding out what is the widest tire that will fit on the front (and rim width) and put them all around.

Tire Rack does not carry Non-OEM spec Toyo Tires.

Toyos can only be purchased through specific toyo distributors.

Currently the best Sport truck tire out in a 275/60 is the Bridgestone Dueler H/P. They are better than the toyos because they are able to be rotated fully across the truck unlike the toyos that can only be run F to R without dismounting everything.

There is no VSC issues with a 275/60 and your OEM Spare will work with no ill issues if you have to throw that on at some point.
