Stalling issue

I'm in the hunt for a 3rd gen and came across a good deal with one minor issue. The seller describes it as: The stalling is happening because high heat can block the airflow causing the engine to die if it's not in motion. The repair is a carbon deposit removal for $150. Apparently this is common in older 4runners. You know this is the issue because it will start right back up.

Does this sound "normal" or legitimate? It almost sounds like it needs a good TB cleaning.

After some more digging all signs are pointing to a dirty idle air controller. Seems like a simple fix and a good way to get a reduced sale price.

Fingers crossed... owner isn't free to let me look at it til Sunday. Let the wait/anticipation begin.
