Standard full spare will not fit w/ 231mm brake upgrade?

I found a nail in my front tire and tried to fit my standard steel wheel full spare as a temp fix till I get my new wheels to put on my new duratracs. However, the full spare (steel wheel) will not fit over my 231mm brake.

Is it correct or did I not try hard enough?

Glad I've realized this now instead of middle of nowhere.

I don't think it does. It might be one of the reasons I ran spacers. Just in case. You can always put the spare on the rear and and move one of the rears to the front in case of emergency.

I will definitely keeping one of the oem wheels as a spare.

Yeah, I was researching the Tundra brake upgrade a few days ago and read (buried deep in the guide) that the standard steel wheel spare doesn't fit.

Anybody know how much the OEM alloy wheels weigh compared to the steel? Just curious if I were to find one and swap it out for the steel spare. I'm a little obsessive about not adding extra weight to the 4Runner....

In most cases I've seen, the OEM 16" Alloy weighs slightly less or the same as a 16" Steel wheel, can't guarantee anything, but I'd say odds are the difference is only going to be 3 lbs or so either way.

Yup, won't fit. I just went to the junk yard and bought an oem wheel for $25. I think they are lighter btw (alloy wheel).

when my dad bought the 4runner brand new it had 15" wheels and 225/75r15 tires. so he got a set of 5, stars on ebay a few years later, and had the mechanic put on the larger 4runner brakes, i dont think he knew about the tundra upgrade(sucks for me). anyways i still have a stupid 15" spare tire. it only fits over the back brakes.

Does anyone know if the stock full size spare will fit with the 199mm brake upgrade?
