Starting High Pitch Squeal

Hey Guys,

Noticed when I start my 4runner up with the AC on, I'm getting a high pitched squeal that lasts about 5 - 10 seconds under the hood when idling. Not sure if the AC has anything to do with it.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm no mechanic and not that great beyond typical maintenance and upkeep.

Serp. belt most likely. Change it.

Ac puts an extra drag on the belt and makes it more likely to squeal.

changing the belt is fairly simple and that is probably the issue

You could try starting the engine with the A/C off........... then you will know if the A/C has anything to do with it.

The belt is easy to change....

4th Gens 4Rs and 2nd Gen Tacoma’s with 4.0 are easier to change belt from underneath not the top. 5th Gen is probably the same
