Stay away from Nalley Toyota in Roswell, GA!

Either way it shouldn't have passed the Toyota CPO program they have. All of the used cars on their lots have multiple problems and I've pointed that out to many people when I go there. The manager doesnt realize that I've made 2 different people look else where because of the things I pointed out to people. And everytime one of my friends is about to buy a car from Toyota I always tell them to go to world Toyota and to steer clear of nalley. In fact my friend just bought a new fj and he was going to buy from nalley, instead he went to world Toyota and bought it there. Good thing nalley didn't help me out.. I could've made them some money... Oh well!!! :)

Let me get this straight.

So you bought a used 4Runner from a dealer then 6 months later the fender started to come off the vehicle. So you took it back to them and asked them to fix it for free and give you free oil changes at which point the manager told you to **** off?

Well not only did the front fender start coming off but the gas door broke too, the passenger cladding came loose, the radio stopped working, and the sunroof stopped working. So yeah

At least you are finding out why the last owner got rid of it. When you buy used you pay your money and take your chance. Every used car sold has all the defects covered up as much as possible to sell it. There are just as many or more people at the Ford, Dodge and Chevy dealers complaining and saying they will never go back to that dealer and they end up at the one you do not like thinking it will be better. It is all about profit for the dealer.

A lot of these issues are minor and they definitely arent things that any toyota dealer would have found in a presale inspection. You can't expect them to bend over backwards for you just because you bought a used vehicle from them that happens to need some maintenance 6 months down the road.

If it was a new Toyota I'd understand but I have to side with the dealer on this one.

:happens:

6 months out... That baby's yours. I sell Toyotas at a local Toyota dealership in north ga. (not going for the free advertising) I could understand it being CPO, but 6 months the vehicle could have gotten a lot of wear and tear that long after the sale.

I would think the fairest option would be parts and labor at cost.

In 8.5 years of ownership I've had none of the problems that knightsfs4 faced. NONE. The fact that they GLUED a part rather than fix it properly indicates that they are indeed scum. However, after 6 months of ownership I can understand the point that it's your bag and not the dealers. That doesn't mean that you can't recite facts on the internet - this was your experience and why you should avoid them.

What about the original warranty?

How can you prove the dealership glued it? IMO it was probably the previous owner who glued it trying to get the most for his trade in.

stealers like that will eventually go outta bzness. Especially when bad press such is this gets swirling around.

I can prove the dealership did it because I called the guy who owned it before me AFTER I bought it. Yes I know my Mom should've called before but **** happens. He said that the fender was coming off a little but no glue at all.

Guys, I'm not trying to make this into a Q&A of why my car is breaking. Fact of the matter is, Nalley is scum and that is why I made this.

No, but neither did the OP. It wasn't a CPO, they don't go through every used car with a fine toothed comb.
And why shouldn't they? This isn't Joe's Sh!tshack Used Cars - it's a named Toyota dealer. I would think that Toyota especiallly would have a vested interest in having happy owners. A 30-point or n-point inspection should be mandatory. Dealerships who care about their reputation won't just slap a For Sale sign on the windshield of every trade-in that comes through. Some POS they'll just send out to auction instead of risking putting it on the lot. And, given that it was purchased at a Toyota authorized dealer, I'm sure they charged top dollar.

Due to geography I'm never going to buy a car from this place. However it's anecdotal evidence like this that allows sources like Google and Yelp to compile a history of reviews. I doubt that I'm alone when I say that I'm going to do as much research as possible when buying the 2nd most expensive thing I'll ever own (first being a house of course). Discussions like this are very helpful.

Dude, thank you

Of course Toyota does a thorough inspection of their vehicles before they sell them but do you really think the technician thinks to himself "hmm I wonder how well those fender flares are attached the the vehicle? lets pull them off and make sure they are attached properly."

None of these problems are things that get inspected, they are just wear and tear and or abuse by the previous/current owner.

I don't see any fault of the dealer here and most others reading this will probably feel the same way and still shop there if they please. I know I wouldn't discount them based on this.

This is a case of not wanting to take responsibility for your used car purchase and wanting to blame everything on the dealer in hopes of getting hand outs.

I think there's a bigger issue here rather than the whole finger pointing thing.

Obviously that fender flare was removed and repaired at one point, and it was a shoddy repair job. I guess the question would be, why? You're vehicle could possibly have an accident in it's history that you aren't aware of. Anybody who's ever removed one of these can tell you that it's damn near impossible to do without breaking the plastic clip holders. I've had to do a repair on one but used some good epoxy to repair it not rubber glue or whatever is on yours.

Now to think that removing the flares is part of their CPO or inspection would be totally unreasonable. Nobody does this. But if they were the ones that performed the crappy repair, then yeah, they suck.

So while we're on the subject of sucky dealerships, I'd advise anybody to steer clear of Toyota of Rock Hill in Rock Hill SC. I could probably rant all day about how bad they are and how they messed my truck up, but I won't on this thread. I can, however, recommend Hendrick Toyota in North Charleston. I always felt like I got a fair shake from those guys. Ok I'm done.

I seriously doubt the dealer would have pulled the fender flare off and done a hack job like that. It would have cost them more in time than it would to have just replaced it. They don't fix, they replace. That is the nature of the business. I also seriously doubt that the previous owner would have admitted to doing something to cover up the damage.

While I agree that it is totally unreasonable to think that a dealer would have caught that, I also agree that it would have been good business for them to have offered parts and labor at cost. I know some dealers are turds and this could be one of them, but much like the guy a week ago, we don't know the attitude he carried with him when he went into the dealership. When you go into a place like that with anger and you have zero legal recourse it isn't shocking to get nothing.

Yup. From his tone in this thread I doubt he went about it the right way.

You should read the WSJ article they did a few years ago about car inspections.

At new car dealerships the used cars they sell - A good portion of cars are NEVER EVER inspected. What companies have found is that if a car has less then a certain mileage...then they find very little benefit in inspecting that vehicle. Most of those vehicles won't have one problem...so why waste man hours (i.e. Money) on inspections. Dealers actually have statistical data on these almost every car made and know which ones may or may not be trouble. They'll keep the ones that statistically show fewer problems. The rest they'll sell at auction or trade with another dealer.

It comes down to a numbers game. Not the way I'd run a dealership...but it is done by a large number of dealers...especially the national chain dealerships.
