Stealth sub enclosure

I've had a 10" sub for a while and it only started to really get in the way when I moved to Colorado - too much outdoor gear to drive around! Thought I'd make my own (definitely not paying $600 for the JL Audio) but when I got a $200 estimate from an installer, I figured it was worth it for something that would probably both sound and look better.

I'm very happy with it. They took out the factory sub and made a box that took advantage of that space as well. He left me use of the little cubby and that hook in the back, which was nice. Unfortunately I lost use of the power outlet (I didn't think to ask them to avoid it), but that hadn't been working for me anyway.

I wanted something like that but wanted a 12" sub and couldn't pay that much. My budget was constrained by new-baby syndrome. I ended up just using a hatchback box.

That looks really good! I like how it merges into the wall. Although, it looks like they could have done a little better attaching the liner carpet to the back side of the box. Still it looks good. How does it sound? Plenty of thump?

Plenty for me - ended up being slightly bigger than what I had originally (i think .74 cubic feet), and can get very loud. my musical taste doesn't generally require a ton of bass but it gives a nice fuller sound. i agree about the carpet, but i can probably touch that up myself with some glue. all in all, very happy with the work for that price.

i actually originally went in to have them move my amps from where they were originally installed, on the back of the left rear seat, to under my front seats. they did all the re-wiring and such before realizing that they were just barely too thick to fit under my seats. so unfortunately they are still kind of in the way but having the sub out of there is good enough for now.

thats not half bad! I too cant afford to lose cargo space. Once i want more this could be an option. Thanks for sharing.
