Steel Bumper Options

I have a 1998 4runner and am thinking about a nice steel bumper...not sure what options, not looking to do something as big as an ARB or pay that much...

Last week in my 2005 Rubicon a guy locked up his Lexus at a yellow light....I locked up my brakes and skidded sideways Dukes style, barely tapped him with my Hanson steel winch bumper....demolished the Lexus, didnt do a thing to my Jeep....

Lucky he took off and didnt want to call the cops or insurance, shady...

Im thinking I need a good bumper for my 4runner so if something happens it doesnt fold in and destroy my front end...

Im a retired cop, seen many accidents, most modern bumpers dont do anything....so Im all for ideas on sweet sturdy bumpers for a 98 4runner!!

thanks guys!! Yea I found that thread its awesome...

Well I was hoping I could spend $600 to $700....offhand I thought the ARBs were like $1200 and not feeling like spending that on a truck thats 14 years old with 160k miles on it! The Hanson was I think $650 and that baby is stout and gorgeous, American made, nice powercoat the paint didnt even come off!

I imagine if I ended up in an accident with that stock 4runner bumper Id crumble the front end!

ARB looks sweet I dig them, but havent done a price search yet as Ive been busy with work and grad school...

I gotta find out pricing and weights for them...I like the ARB, Addicted Off Road without a hoop, the Irbis (but wondering if that thing weighs a ton as it looks stout), and the Shrockworks but another thread says it takes a few months to get ?

ARBs are like 700ish maybe 800. Shockworks are like 1200 lol. ToyTec.com has an arb for a tacoma but it fits 4runners. Check that out.
