Steel Rim Spare Tire Question

Was a 08 FJ owner with the exposed spare tire with matching wheels, no issues mounting since the rim and lugs were all the same. My question since our spare tire is steel taper lugs opening and our stock aluminum rims uses a flat lug opening has anyone have an issue mounting a steel rim using the flat lugs? I would assume that someone had a flat tire at some time.

The factory lugs on my ‘19 aluminum Off Road wheels are tapered on the end. This taper fits perfectly in the steel spare wheel. The lugs stick out and look funny, but they work just fine as Toyota intended. Had a flat while off road and had no problem riding around the rest of the day on the spare until I was able to get the tire patched.
